Charles M Schulz would be proud
safenoe3 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The late Charles M Schulz would be proud of the third segment of Treehouse of Horror XIX (that's 19 for those unfamiliar with Roman numerals I guess) which was absolutely 100% for sure and spot on, down to the music, the trombone adult voice and the pumpkin patch. As I said, the late Charles M Schulz would be proud, as would any self-respecting Peanuts fan for sure.

The other two segments were rather okay and all credit to the writers behind them for sure. I must admit, for me the first ten seasons are the golden years but I'm still kind of drawn to watching the Treehouse of Horrors after that.

A Decent Treehouse of Horror
e_daneva28 December 2023
Treehouse of Horror XIX was a good episode. I have watched 6 other Season 20 episodes, and there is 1 bad, 3 okay, 2 good, and 1 really good. This episode falls in the good category. This is a pretty good Treehouse of Horror. It's funny and interesting too. This is a giant improvement from the last Treehouse of Horror. I really didn't like the last Treehouse of Horror and I thought it was very bland. Anyway, there are 3 segments in this Treehouse of Horror and I will give mini reviews to all of them

Segment #1, Untitled Robot Parody. Right here comes a bad name with a bad segment. This segment is a very bad parody of Transformers. It matches up to the same standards as E. T Go Home from last year. Both of them were the first segment of their Treehouse of Horror, and I would give them both the same rating. This is obviously the worst segment in the episode. I give this segment a 5.8.

Segment #2, How To Get Ahead In Deadvertising. This segment is a really good segment. It has the right amount of horror with a lot of good humor. It is a great segment, but it isn't the best segment in this Treehouse of Horror. The best is coming up next. This is a very satisfying segment that is worth watching. In all, I give this segment a 7.5.

Segment #3, It's the Grand Pumpkin, Milhouse. This is the best segment in this Treehouse of Horror. It is a humorous parody of Charlie Brown. This segment is brilliant. It has great humor and creative, which makes it a top notch parody. This isn't one of the best Treehouse of Horror segments, but it's a great one that's worth watching. In all, I give this segment a 8.5.

In all, I give this Treehouse of Horror a 7.5 out of 10.

The best Simpsons Halloween special in the last few years.
TOMNEL2 November 2008
Reviews out before this episode aired all had similar complaints, many of them being about the second segment and how lacking it was. I found all three segements to be very solid, though the first segment was a bit generic. In the end, this was the best Simpsons Halloween special in the last few years.

The opening features Homer trying to vote for Barack Obama, but the machine says McCain each time. Where this could have been a political hit towards one candidate, it felt more like just the horror of rigged voting. It wasn't in poor taste, and it was a good, and original opener.

The first segment is called Untitled Robot Parody. Bart buys Lisa a Malibu Stacy car for Christmas, and it turns out to be a Transformer type robot. It seems as though every machine in Springfield is a robot, and they all start fighting with each other. After Marge has a talk with one of the robots, they decide to stop fighting and enslave the humans. The ending of this segment is all too familiar, with Kang and Kodos segments ending the same way, but it was still a good ending. It was way too short running at less than five minutes, but it was still deserving of a Halloween segment.

Segment number two is the critically panned portion of the episode, but it's also the one I found the funniest. Homer accidentally kills Krusty the Clown and finds out that he has a knack for killing celebrities. He begins to get paid to kill celebrities so their likenesses can be used for free in commercials. The celebrities in Heaven decide to come down and kill Homer. This segment produced the most laughs for me. The celebrity deaths were original, and the segment was well paced.

The beloved Charlie Brown Halloween special has been turned into a Simpsons segment. Milhouse believes in the Grand Pumpkin, and because of how strong his belief is, the Grand Pumpkin comes to life. After seeing that humans eat and carve pumpkins, it goes crazy and start eating Springfield residents. The only thing that can stop imagination is more imagination. This was by far the best segment. It wasn't the funniest, but it made up for not a super amount of laughs with it's amazing style. The water color backgrounds and over the top Peanuts animation looked excellent.

Overall, this was one of the better Simpsons Halloween specials. It was funny, and had amazing style!

My rating: *** 1/2 out of ****. 30 mins. TVPGDLVS

Certainly High Up on my List of Favourite Treehouse of Horrors,
lesleyharris3028 October 2014
Treehouse of Horror XIX is a fantastic Simpsons episode with three outstanding segments that are both dark and simply hilarious. It isn't the best Halloween special of the whole series (that without a doubt being Treehouse of Horror V),but it isn't far off it,I loved all the parodies in this episode,as well as the intro involving Homer trying to vote for Obama. The Transformers segment was fun but it was certainly the weakest part, however it got much better as we follow Homer being hired to kill celebrities, including dozens of fantastic impressions of well known icons by the series professional voice cast, and finally the best part,It's the Grand Pumpkin Milhouse, this was a very clever take on Its the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown and the Peanuts cartoons in general, including an evil talking pumpkin who had me in stitches for all of his scenes. There have been many great ones over the last twenty seasons, but Treehouse of Horror XIX stands out as one of the series finest Halloween specials in my personal opinion.

Homer struggles to let the voting machine allow him to vote for Barack Obama, all of Springfields gadgets come to life,Homer is hired to kill celebrities so they can be used for free advertisement and Milhouse spends his Halloween waiting for the Grand Pumpkin to turn up.

The best of them all

Three segments, the opening starts with the elections and homer goes out of the machine. The first segment was a reference to Transformers and fight each other, the second segment How To Get Ahead in Dead-versiting was a reference to Mad Men Homer kills celebrities non stop and get they're revenge and last It's The Grand Pumpkin Milhouse is a reference to Peanuts after Milhouse brings the pumpkin to life with his tears and then the pumpkin gets revenge on everyone and in the ending it sounds the same music from the treehouse of horror xvi from 2005 and the ending was calm and sad piano tune.
