Frances manufactures a way to get Rattery on his own, and into the middle of nowhere, but her plan to take revenge is halted with an unexpected moment.

The previous episode literally bored me to tears, absolutely nothing happened, ten minutes of this episode was more entertaining, more enthralling, and best of all, what happens is unexpected.

You come away wondering exactly where Frances goes from here on, what can she possibly do, does it now mean that she has to rely on Strangeways for help?

Excellent acting once again, Jumbo is great, best episode for her, Jared Harris manages to bump up his game even more, yet another layer of villainy is added to Rattery.

Is Frances down and out, or does she have one more card up her sleeve, the penultimate episode does a great job, sets it up well for the finale.

Excellent, and unexpected, 8/10.

I am not used to having to wait a week for an episode (even though Britbox is a streaming site) so this does seem to lacking in momentum. This year Funding Alice, The Bay S2, Marcella s3 and Professor T. Were new series released as a complete box set by Britbox so can't understand why they didn't do the same with this. It really isn't that good to keep people waiting nervously for the next installment.

I don't know if it is the south of England trying to do Scandi Noir or it is just slow and plodding.

I find none of the characters warming or worth caring about.

I guess, apart from the BBC, you don't have hour long shows these days. These episodes could easily be done in the ITV time of around 45 minutes.

Geraldine James is a great talent not being out to good use and, although Jared Harris us doing a good job if being loathsome, there does seem to be something lacking while Cush Jumbo just doesn't cut the mustard for me A good whodunit to close the episode though.
