classified under horror, why?
trashgang12 January 2010
Being in search of independent horror flicks I usually see some trailers on Youtube or giving links through friends and Fangoria. 2009 delivered already some excellent flicks in that way but this one I just don't understand. Why the hell is this one classified under horror. Because the word blood is in the title? But were is the blood. The movie is more about falling in love with the wrong guy. That guy appears to be something that they couldn't guess. End of story. The best part is watching the end credits and being surprised that there is another scene guessing that there will be a sequel. But the movie itself, a lot of blah blah interfered with nudity. Full frontal nudity, and there is a lot of it. It's a movie going everywhere, from soft porn to soft horror to fairytale to nothing at all. By filming in black and white the low budget doesn't appear that much on screen, that makes the movie bearable. What has to be red in the movie is red. Almost no effects are used, and some acting is indeed going nowhere. If you like full frontal or shaved or tattooed private parts then this one is for you, but if you want to see blood, forget it.

Awful awful movie
Dietrich12 November 2009
I ended up seeing this tripe at its "premiere" a couple months ago. I wasn't expecting a whole lot judging from director Sparks' previous film-making attempt. I was smart to go in with lowered expectations, but I had no idea this movie was going to be garbage. I am still trying to figure out as to why this movie is being sold as a horror film. There is actually nothing scary at all in the movie. Nothing. I honestly think the entire thing was put together by a bunch of monkeys. The characters have nothing to do, the acting is horrid, and the directing is bottle of the barrel. What you wont expect is just how much nudity is in this movie. Or that there is a graphic masturbation scene that feels so goddamn out of place. You cant help but think... where the hell did that come from??? It doesn't deliver in the horror front. It doesn't deliver in the porno front. 'Blood' is a failure from beginning to end. Do not waste your time or money on this thing. Im serious. Its that bad.

and yet another example of faked ratings...
m_imdb-949-37057613 January 2011
Before you read I want you to know that I don't want to be too hard to the crew and filmmakers in general. But this movie gave me no other option.

I can't understand how anyone with an IQ higher than a potato can rate this movie better than 1.

Okay, there might be the nudity or the really misplaced graphic masturbation scene that may drive some of the juvenile audience to like the movie in pieces.

But instead of not liking it, I was getting angry at the film at so many times.

First of all the score is a horrid ride to the past, when people thought synthesizer buzzes out of a crappy but state of the art Moog or Oszillator-synth would be some kind of scary or supports any atmosphere: WRONG! It's annoying...annoying and of course it sounds like crap. Besides the strange noise-tunes it is mostly misplaced, really badly mixed and has most of the time nothing to do with the movie. Since for the sound-department, there was only a boom operator, I guess there was no sound-editing at all.

The acting is a complete FAILURE as well as the casting. Stefanie Geils acting is woody and strange. There is not a second in the movie I would buy a 17year old girl from her. That's the main problem. All the characters are school-teens but are played by very much older people. No problem with that, especially with all the nudity in. But somehow they had not one actor that managed to look or act not like a 30 year old Walmart salesman. The mother is at least it's what I felt, at the same age as Rose and so on... The real acting quality is the quality you get when kids make a fun short for youtube. That combined with a good plot, a funny conclusion or some other REASON to make a short movie, is sometimes entertaining. And then, bad acting is bearable for a short time. But here, every scene was driving me crazy of how bad the acting is. And just when I was in thoughts about the acting, there came the next buzz from the synth to make me forget it for about 5 seconds...

And in the end, the idea with the colors may be fine, but it was annoying. It made no reason and looked strange. There was no art in the movie that made any excuse for that edit.

All in all... I give this movie ONE star because I cannot give ZERO

This is a complete failure and waste of time for all people involved in it, especially for the audience.

Sad but true. I feel a bit sorry for Harry Sparks and hope he will find a better way for his future films

A Sexy Erotic Mystery!
chiefomg10 August 2010
Fairy tales weren't always meant for children to begin with. Just like the original "Three Little Pigs" and the original "Little Mermaid" Rotkappchen: The Blood of Red Riding Hood brings back the darkness. Like a rocket ship to the stars Rotkappchen starts off with a slow countdown. After we're past the middle of the first act, it's off to the races! Like many good indie films Rotkappchen gives us something fresh. Watch this movie with an open mind and most of all pay attention! It has something for everyone like a delicious buffet. Remember to keep the lights on! The story centers around a new student called Rose (Stefanie Geils). Rose comes all the way from Germany. She soon meets Summer (Sativa Verte) a sexy closet Diva. After catching Rose reading her book entitled "Rotkappchen", which seems to be the manual on surviving this movie, they become fast friends and soon much more. Summer shows her how to get boys, clothes and getting through a day of high school. What will really keep your attention is the series of murders happening all around them. WHODUNIT you'll ask, see Rotkappchen and get all your questions answered. Keep an eye out for Scream Queen Debbie D who makes a cameo appearance.

Writer, Director and Producer Harry Sparks blended the right amount of mystery, comedy, fun and sexy spice. Not to mention a very nice ensemble of talent from the top of the cast on down. Good job Mr. Sparks and congratulations to the entire Rotkappchen: The Blood of Red Riding Hood project!

Red Riding hood for the new millennium
tuet28 September 2009
Red Riding hood for the new millennium. I picked this title up at the horrorfindweekend in Baltimore. I was looking for an indy movie, and after speaking to the producer I decided this was it.

I wasn't expecting a great movie but was pleasantly surprised. The cinematography was really good. I really liked the angles and shades. The acting was OK.

The grandma was great.

Chris O'Brocki was probably the best actor in the movie. My only gripe is there was a lot of unnecessary sex scenes, but in defense of the makers, I was warned. This is really soft porn.

Didn't really understand the ending unless its an opening for a sequel.

Excellent Film
kryptkeeper2514 November 2009
There have been other versions of Little Red Riding Hood before, but this is the best I have seen yet. From the terrific music score and cinematography to the lively and memorable characters, this is a great erotic horror film. I was hooked from the beginning Some may complain about the sex in the film (which is typical in our prudish society), but that is likely because they are not mature enough to understand the themes of the story. This is not porn. This is a mature film for mature audiences, not the typical teen horror film we are used to seeing. This is scary, sexy and fun for adults and it stays with you long after the credits have rolled. I should say it is also very moving emotionally, which is unusual for a film of this type. Bring on the sequel!

A Fairytale for Adults
Ajay2529 September 2009
As young kids we were all familiar with the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but admit it, we were also left with the eerie feeling that some part of that tale was missing.

This movie is a masterpiece of adult fairy tales that combines the thrill of horror with amazing cinematography and some very impressive acting. It's much more than your run-of-the-mill horror thanks to Mr. Sparks' creative directing.

Do not be intimidated by the nudity and sexual intimacy between ' Wolf ' and his young loving prey as it explodes on screen, but do make this movie number 1 on your horrors to watch list.

I'm sure you will agree with me that this movie is the best and most exciting adult horror fairytale you have ever seen.
