Two minutes of thrills . . .
tadpole-596-91825625 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
. . . as the scene that put actress Barbara Bach (Anya) in genuine fear for her real life (according to THE SPY WHO LOVE ME's production designer, Ken Adam, on a different DVD "extra," KEN ADAM: DESIGNING BOND) is broken down to its bare bones on the sketch board, complete with dynamic panning and scanning, dialog and sound effects from the feature's actual final version, and a handful of subtitles (many fewer than Bond producer Michael Wilson's brief voice-over introduction would lead viewers to expect). It's all here, though, from the climax of this film: actor Richard Kiel as "Jaws" biting the threatening shark before it can bite him; "James" and "Anya" desperately trying to escape the narrow corridors of the sinking "Atlantis" despite the deluges of seawater bowling them over from every direction, and the denouement in which their "escape pod's" final destination is not quite as isolated and private as they expect it to be.
