I came across this film after reading about the director, who was involved with the magnificent "Embrace of the Serpent." "En Agosto" is a beautiful film with complexity and simplicity. With very little narration (thank you for the English subtitles!), it invites the viewer's participation. I value that in a film!

A rather impressive Colombian animation that deserves more popularity

Warning: Spoilers
Even when the animation is a bit stiff at moments, the overall result here is still fairly impressive, mostly thanks to its excellent atmosphere.
And honestly, the plot has enough potential to be fully developed into a feature-lenght film: In fact, it leaves wanting to know more about the characters, and how their stories are connected.
In some ways, it feels like a preview or a mere fragment from a bigger story.
Hope there is a sequel someday.
