One thing I like about The Resident is there's always a recap. 3 new patients tonight and Devin still struggles with his demons, Mina could be deported, and Nic and Conrad tell coworkers about her pregnancy, Bell gets a few unexpected surprises....

They've strayed from what was interesting to begin with - the medical and bureaucratic challenges faced by doctors and nurses in a large hospital. Tonight's episodes insisted on basing the challenges on political agendas. Why base the older woman's heart attack on a "peaceful" protest in which peaceful protesters were tear gassed? Why take a swipe at cops in a medical show? Why talk about deportation without explaining that there was a national security issue associated with it? They made it sound arbitrary and spiteful. Which, again, seems gratuitous in a medical show. Neither of the issues ended up being very interesting. They need to get back to what drew viewers to begin with. The longest running shows all learned to stick to their wheelhouse and tweak it a little during the run instead of running off the rails.
Disappointng change in content

The last two episodes do not have the strength of the previous seasons, which was a dramatic portrayal of the serious problems in American medical care. It has deteriorated into a conventional soap opera revolving around romantic relationships, and with feel good happy endings to both personal and medical situations.
Another show I'll probably dump
