Making great progress
Resi-Novak22 July 2009
3 episodes in (keeping in mind the pilot was 2 hours) and this show has maked quite a few large strides. The character development has been great. In a short amount of time they have gotten me to connect with the characters. Its the flaws that they have that sell them to the audience. This IS A SCI-FI show, so ya, its goofy and you gotta be able to suspend your belief, but should you be able to do that its a show that can be easily enjoyed.

I expect big things out of this series as time goes on, but only that same time will tell.

If you haven't seen this show, i would highly recommend it. It comes with the fun police work of Law and Order, the quirky wit similar to that of a Joss Whedon series all mixed up with Sci-Fi.

Suspense and humor - a winning combination
Paularoc23 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This series is really growing on me. The wackiness, suspense, humor, bickering and odd characters all make for an entertaining series. In this episode, people in a small Colorado town are behaving uncharacteristically, in one case to the point of tragedy. It seems they're suffering from some sort of virus and it is Myka and Pete's job to find out what the victims have in common and what the artifact is that is causing the destructive behaviors. Meanwhile something strange is going on in the warehouse - seemingly random electrical outbursts are of increasing concern to Arte as he tries to trace the source. This incident ends up being a episode cliffhanger. Fun show with a number of laugh out loud moments.

Welcome to Unionville in CAN-ERICA
A_Different_Drummer21 February 2016
In a previous review your humble reviewer gave the true origins of this series, namely a reboot of one of Canada's first ever home grown series, Friday the 13th, a show about cursed objects.

I am flagging this episode because it contains a geographical trope I have never encountered before.

Namely, while shooting Canada "for" the US (a trick I have seen a thousand times before) the producers elected to shoot in Unionville Ontario and wrote the script so the action takes place in Unionville Colorado.

Yes, there really is a Unionville Colorado.

Maybe this is not a big deal to you but for the accountants who run the Canadian film industry this was a revelation.

1. Pick a Canadian location that is cheap and ready.

2. Alter the script so that you are allegedly in a town of the SAME NAME in the US.

3. This saves a fortune for the continuity editor. If any nameplate accidentally gets in frame, it will say "Unionville." See the trick? And the money keeps rolling in.

Guilty Little Pleasure
rwk218 August 2010
Is SyFy known for it's Special Effects? No. It's Campiness? Hell yeah! This show rolls through some excellent dialogue, specifically the interaction between Pete and Myka. It's fun, it's entertaining, it's a guilty little pleasure on the TV. Plus, I love that basically anyone famous from throughout history can be thrown in the mix as something close to them now possesses part of their chi/ka/soul/electric body magnetism/whatever that helped make them noteworthy. You watch this show and immediately afterward (sometimes during) you want to Google the person who made the artifact. I love a little mental teaser. All the actors are good (although I'm slightly unclear on Leena's point in being. She runs the local B&B... uh, and?) and Artie particularly plays his role to the utmost.

In the words of Pete after they find the artifact, "I know! Freaky, right? This stuff is always Freaky!" So fun it's lovable.

What in the...?

I have to admit I found the offending object in this episode to be more than a bit far-fetched. I don't want to reveal what it is here, but it is ridiculous. Pete and Myka are sent to Colorado (everywhere they go is starting to look the same, by the way) to investigate a bunch of people going off the deep end. A nun decides she can fly and jumps off a roof. An old lady gets rowdy with a newspaper honor box. A young musician smashes his violin to pieces. And so on. Myka notices folks are losing their balance just before each outburst, and then she is "infected" so that she starts taking swings at Pete and other males in town. The daring duo have a very tough time trying to connect all of the people involved to some object in town. The show is still fun, and there remains an element of suspense, but this show isn't going the way I personally thought it would. It is not working on the same level as the old Friday THE 13TH TV series, which also dealt with sinister objects to be retrieved by a young guy and gal. Still, the ongoing monkey business between the bickering Bickersons (Pete and Myka) is fun to watch, and the odd disturbances happening back at the warehouse, involving a mysterious hacker, add to the suspense. But I suspect this show will be gone sooner rather than later. Sad.

Who is in charge; Pete or Myka?
Tweekums2 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
When some people start behaving strangely in the small town of Unionville Colorado Pete and Myka are sent to determine whether or not an artefact is behind the events. There is no obvious connection between those affected and it isn't long before more people are starting to be affected… including Myka. Meanwhile back in the warehouse Artie is having problems with the energy levels.

This was another fun episode; I liked how Artie told both Pete and Myka that they are the one in charge but they should let the other think they are in charge… and their ultimate revenge on him was funny and a little cruel. The strange behaviours caused by the mystery artefact were nicely varied; although having a paramedic with an uncontrollable compulsion to grab Myka's breasts was a little bit gratuitous. The events in the warehouse was also interesting and served to keep the question of who is trying to hack into the warehouse systems in the mind of the viewer without distracting from the main story. Overall this was another fun episode with plenty of laughs and some tense moments.

Proving my point.
scottwallvashon22 July 2009
We have now seen the pilot and two episodes of this SciFi/Syfy/sigh…fie Channel series. As I suspected, it is wearing thin.

The two Secret Service agents are just plain dumb. There is no justification—not even for the sake of humor—for their antics. They bicker like young girls playing with dolls, and their bickering puts them in real danger. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully disagreed, but it never undermined their professionalism. I can't recall any investigative team in any successful series that was this discordant. We're getting into Laurel and Hardy territory here.

As for the humor, that's right out of the Three Stooges. They have built into the script a justification for the basest form of slapstick. I tuned into this episode just as ECW Wrestling was ending, and I barely recognized the transition.

I have given Warehouse 13 the college try, but I suspect that it will get harder and harder to remember to watch this show. One day I will discover that I have forgotten it entirely and realize I have no regrets.
