KATIE, THE WAITRESS? WHAT?
tcchelsey18 January 2024
You have to love this episode as everythings thrown in; a bit of drama, comedy and it has its poignant moments. Robbie and Katie will be celebrating their ONE MONTH! Anniversay. Naturally, gifts are to be exchanged --but how does Katie pay for hers? Get a job on the sly as a Hollywood waitress!

It's one of those Murphy's Law stories, because all is going well... until a friend of Robbie's happens to win a free lunch at the same restaurant Katie is working.

Why, why? Did we say, WHY?

Robbie joins his pal and can't believe his eyes.

It's not so much the job as to the way she's dressed!

Welcome to Hollywood!

What a mess, and it takes Steve to add some of that fatherly advice (that we all can't get enough of) to straighten things out. Leave it to Uncle Charley, Chip and Ernie to be the "unofficial" observers?

Everything clicks, a classic episode written by Edmund Beloin, a wonderful writer. Beloin wrote GI BLUES for Elvis and was producer and writer for FAMILY AFFAIR. He may have borrowed a bit from Tina Cole's many appearances as Sunny Day (the cigarette girl) on HAWAIIN EYE. That classic show gave Tina her start and she was perfect for the role, and remembered to this day by many cop show fans.

Super trivia question for tv buffs.

Applause to the producers for casting Dick Wilson as the maitre d! Dick, who was born in England, gained fame as Mr. Whipple, the tv toilet paper salesman, but also known for his many gag appearances on BEWITCHED, usually as a drunk in a bar who Darrin would always meet up with. A class act.

Director Fred De Cordova works his magic with the cast here. From SEASON 8 EPISODE 7.
