The last last 15 mins was tense as hell
evansjoshyr1 November 2021
Season 3 continues to deliver with more schemes, backstabs and family drama. The acting and writing truly is phenomenal this episode. The cinematography is also stunning.

There is one scene near the end of Kendall just walking through a corridor (you'll understand when you watch it). And it's one of the best scenes of the season so far just because of its subtle but profound use of cinematography and acting. No dialogue is required as you can clearly see every single emotion kendall is feeling in that moment. This is exactly what I love about this show. There is so much fast, clever dialogue in each episode, but at the same time, succession knows when to just shut up and let us appreciate jeremy strong's acting abilities.

Exceptional episode of television.

This season continues to rise, I love the cast, they are always creative, especially Logan Roy. The production capacity is very high and excellent. The soundtrack is great. I also watch the introduction every episode because it is one of the greatest intros in the series hbo They continue to entertain us with their work.

The best episode yet of season 3
dannyedgeprivate1 November 2021
No spoilers, but seeing the real Kendall for the first time at the end of this episode was chilling and the best moment of the season so far. This show is masterfully done. I can't even imagine where this season will go - we're only 3 episodes in!

I just wanted to point out how excellently everything wraps up this episode, it's truly a feat of directing, writing, and acting all coming together beautifully. These talented people playing in HBOs flashy playground is truly outstanding. Can't wait for more more more!

Intelligent writing
mertafor1 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After the second season, except the finale, I had the feeling that the show is becoming more and more repetitive and couldn't make sure if I want to see more. But this season, especially this episode, things have gone nuclear and it showed that smart writing will make things more and more interesting instead.

What I liked the most is the events from the past two seasons are coming to the surface slowly and things won't be easy for both sides. Right after Logan's move on Ken by sending his bodyguard who has witnessed the accident in london, and Shiv's letter on Ken's past, I have a feeling that they will be backlashed by Ken's new moves. Probably Shiv's affair will be coming to the light (hinted already) and maybe many other details I can't remember from the past. Also end of the episode when Ken's realization about how the things got out of hand and it gets uglier than ever was masterfully acted. I'm just wondering how the things will unfold afterwards. Ken's actions are quite unpredictable and so far his actions surprised me at almost every turn.

Only downside, which is the nature of this show actually, so far there is no likable character at all. You can't take a side, all you can do is to watch how a family is being destroyed by its members.

Probably next one or two episodes will be fillers (hope not) yet this one raised the bar too high already.

All in all, kudos to intelligent writing and good acting.

quickly established itself as a top tier succession episode
cdfulk2 November 2021
The tension and intensity in this episode are insane!

I only wish that cousin greg was getting a better arc this season, but i have faith that the writers know what they're doing. I have a feeling he'll get more involved as the season continues.

Teared Up

Warning: Spoilers
I actually teared up a little bit when I saw Kendall crawling at the end while looking at his family being attacked by the FBI! I don't really know who I do like or hate. I just know that this show is like GoT without the walking dead!

I cried for Kendall
whatithinkis2 November 2021
Can you believe it? I couldn't. But there I was crying for Kendall. That long long l o n g walk down the hall. I can feel the feeling rising again as I write this the next day. And I write it beCAUSE the feeling is still here.

Wow. I scorned 'Succession's' first show and only came back because of the chatter. So I just. Could. Not. BeLIEVE it. Here I sat crying for Kendall. Wow.

Another reviewer points out that Cathy Yan needs to direct more and I second that WHOLE-heartedly because, LOOK! I'm crying for Kendall.

And, yes, not to overlook the man himself, Jeremy Strong, who won the Emmy last year for his work, and I gotta say should get another one this year because this episode was KILLER.

Wow.

Wow!!

Warning: Spoilers
Ridiculously awesome. All of the actors - especially Jeremy Strong, Brian Cox and Sarah Snook - are given chances to shine, and they all hit it out of the park. Plus, when Nirvana's "Rape Me" blasts from the speakers during Shiv's speech, it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen (heard?) on a TV show.

Cathy Yan needs to direct more...
benjaunceY12 November 2021
Without saying much, this episode was a masterpiece and in my opinion the best of the series so far. The writing is great, as usual, but the way in which the direction, editing and score work collaboratively to capture the tensity and subtly exude the chaos, especially in the final ten minutes, was like watching an orchestra give the performance of their lives.

I hope Cathy gets to direct another episode in future because she definitely understood the assignment with this one.

Average at best
antonsvi11 November 2021
I had high expectations for this season after epic season 2 ending ,so far the dialogue is still outstanding and cinematography is good but the plot is so bad,the way events happen and play out just feels unnatural and forced, huge disappointment hope they step up.

Worst of the series
wayfarerson2 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
S3E3 marks a low point of the series. The sudden shift of tone and context of scenes to be so social-media/pop-culture relevant didn't sit well. A party game of "Good Tweet/Bad Tweet" in a limo while the champagne flows and everyone chants and cheers-felt like another show. Like something "modern" and "hip" and therefore boring and probably a Netflix Original. Shots of screens displaying a sassy talk-show host deliver celebrity gossip one-liners are too abundant. Greg is pressured to buy a watch he doesn't want. Hmm. Shiv experiences perhaps the greatest public humiliation of her career at a pivotal moment, and her retaliation? Spit in the offender's notebook. Ouch. So sophomoric. The ending didn't capitalize on the leverage of its plot well enough, and not nearly enough to salvage the episode.

and_mikkelsen16 March 2023
This was a great episode that really.made me invest myself emotionally in what was happenning! With everything Kendall has been through there were scenes that made me more emotional than I thought i would be! This Shows you just how much you qctually care about the characters and just how far they are willing to go!

Things really got spiced up in this episode and I can only imagine the consequences! Feels like they all desperatly tried to get the last laugh! Neither side is totally safe and anything can happen! Amazing way to keep you invested!

Season 3 is really shaping up and I am on board!

UniqueParticle4 November 2021
So many enjoyable bits like with Tom I absolutely love all his scenes and everything with Kendall is delightful! This is top notch of Succession that makes this show glorious very deserving of the 9.5 rating. I crave the metaphors/ alternate meanings throughout. The music is a masterpiece especially during the arrival scene at the family's building.

[8.6] The corridor to hell
cjonesas19 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3: What I deemed as artificial and a little campy about the first two episodes' family characters being surrounded by those protective walls while bathing in their own nasty syrup, came to an end with an outstanding last 10 minutes where I again witnessed Jeremy Strong's genius acting, desperate emotions oozing from his pores, walking down a corridor to his very hellish place, all curled up from intense sadness, and the combination of the stellar piano score and the filming of those agents from above with the camera zooming out, while everyone was just watching in complete disbelief and "hangover".

That just shows superb writing and awesome directing. Thank you all for keeping and continuing the high standard of Succession.

Masterful
Hitchcoc17 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is about how Kendall is trying to figure out what to do to destroy his father. The problem, of course, is that those whom Logan has harmed can't seem to cut themselves loose. One of the reviewers complained that they don't like the show because it is showing rich people to be horrible and cruel. No. It is showing this rich family to be horrible and cruel. Fiction is not produced to support some idea of what is right or wrong. It is to show us right and wrong and let us judge for ourselves. Can you imagine ending To Kill a Mockingbird with the accused being made mayor of the town for being a good man, and people in the town coming to apologize! These arc complex people with ugly underpinning that have led to this and it is primarily Logan's upbringing. It says it all when Roman is asked to come up with a good father/son story and he is clueless. By the way, I think that Kendall hasn't figured out a solid plan to get what he wants.

Sometimes no words are necessary
joaniebarnhart3 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am shocked that there are negative reviews for this episode. Like many of the other reviewers I was moved by Kendall's long walk down that corridor. You could just imagine the damage that Shiv's letter would cause and the desperation was written all over his face. I have always been a fan of Kendall's and yes, he is a flawed character however he was betrayed by his Father initially and has come a long way from his drug addiction and "absentee father" days. I believe he is misunderstood and has been put in a position where he had to strike out at his father. I love this show and it keeps going better and better. The entire cast is exceptional and the writing is superb. It is sad that these dysfunctional families exist however I believe there is more truth in the "stories" than we would like to believe. Maybe this is indicative of the Trump household ;)

Painful to watch
kathleen_swales29 May 2023
I have spent all of my Succession "tenure" veering between being a fan of Kendall Roy and loathing him (a truly exceptional performance by Jeremy Strong by the way.) I'm just watching season 3 because I waited to watch the last two seasons together, and up until the last fifteen or so minutes of episode 3 I really disliked him. But then he walked down that corridor in that scene and my heart broke for him. You could say he's the architect of his own downfall and for all his bravado he's vulnerable and insecure and wants nothing more than the love and respect of his father. The one thing his money can't buy. I've a long way to go but for today I'm team Kendall. To be continued...

Succession remains undefeated
yghunit5 November 2021
This show has yet to miss and continues to be 'can't miss' stuff.

As a viewer, anytime I am engaged enough to feel my eyes squinting or my teeth clenching due to the tension that fills the room, I just have to look back and applaud those involved -- acting at it's best and I can't wait to see where we go from here.

Succession is at its best when the viewer can emotionally connect to the situation onscreen.
bayleykedar22 November 2021
A big step-up in quality compared to the first two episodes of the season.

It's the show's emphasis on Kendall that really drives it forward, in my opinion. And seeing him suffer can evoke a sort of emotional resonance or connection within the viewer, at least in my case. So this episode was a tough but largely rewarding one. I love Jeremy Strong, and I, unfortunately, love Kendall Roy. I've said this before, I accept and acknowledge that he is not a good person. But in a world filled with such a range of horrid, despicable central characters, you find yourself falling in love with the one who genuinely seems to care about the company, his family and people in a much larger and more general sense (or so it seems).

The filmmaking on display in this episode was, to put it simply, marvellous. The long, seemingly endless walk down the studio's corridor made me reflect in the same manner as Kendall, and I felt a sinking feeling within my heart as I saw him break down in the IT room.

It's becoming difficult to write these reviews without spoiling key details from within the narrative, but I'd prefer to do it this way so people can read my genuine thoughts on this show and where it has progressed to, without being spoiled, so they can perhaps decide to give it a go.

I'll keep it at this. The season has certainly picked up from this point. The stakes are becoming progressively higher, and a resolution is certainly on the way. I am invested in the narrative, and whilst the show is far from at its absolute best, it is continuously brilliant and truly one of the best on TV currently. I have a feeling that we may spend the entire season building up to this payoff, but with Season 4 being renewed so quickly, I have no doubt that they have a very explosive, fast-paced season in mind after this almost two season-long conflict continuing to be dragged out.

Really strong episode, but some issues here and there
TheTooMuchInformation23 December 2021
This episode has some really amazing moments and a stellar ending. There are some slow sections throughout that the writers could've used to build up to the shareholders meet more, but still a great episode!

Average episode
NiiBerry2 November 2021
Let's be honest this show is good but this was average at best. Slow but ok. This was the worst episode so far in my opinion. I'm sure other episodes would be better.

Not knocking the people who gave it a 10 rating I am sure you have your reasons. I imagine the ratings will fall when people who actually watch the show rate it.

As always the imagery and acting was great as always.

So many are taken in by this
touser20043 November 2021
Basically the show is about rich people who are stupid ,selfish and lack any morals .Where is the nuanced writing ?It just appeals to people's prejudices that are rich people are evil and incredibly stupid ,witnessed by both Kendall's and Logan's actions Not one character is nice ,they all stab each other in the back but expect support. In real life there are nice people who get genuinely blindsided by immoral actions but nothing any character did on this show would surprise any of the other characters .It's just not realistic on any level.
