Too much LA artificiality
sundownsky11 October 2021
The personalities in the show, including some of the paranormal investigators, have an artificiality about their behavior and character. So much so that it detracts from the show and its obvious that the show's main personalities are out of their element and instead are trying to fill a role as they go along. The show comes across as trend chasing rather than being an honest show.

I, too, want to believe.

Warning: Spoilers
There's not a lot I can say about this show without giving away spoilers. Luckily, there's not much to spoil. What I mean by this is that in the end, there's nothing unexpected: Demi receives exactly what Demi expects to receive. If you are a fan, you will too.

Unlike other paranormal shows, which often attempt to create a mysterious, spooky or ominous atmosphere, "Unidentified" attempts to wrap paranormal experiences inside a soft, glossy pop-star blanket, with matching rose-colored lenses to polish it off.

The most entertaining member of Demi's Scooby Squad is best friend Matthew Scott Montgomery. Entertaining because he's supposed to be the "Skeptic" and I feel like he spends a tremendous amount of time practicing various looks of shock, awe, dumbfoundedness and incredulity in the mirror between takes. The resulting on-screen expressions remind me of the memes of Jennifer Stewart biting her lip and glancing away 486 times in the Twilight series; Matthew comes off glassy-eyed and likely stoned. It's funny because it's such a sad delivery.

Dallas, Demi's sister, is just REALLY THRILLED TO BE HERE! Everything is amazing! It's all her jam! It would be my jam too if I got to tour around in luxury RVs, tour busses, HELICOPTERS (!!) and stay in luxurious rental houses on Catalina and basically have Sedona Arizona ALL TO MYSELF. You go girl.

OG Demi-god is billed as a "paranomral magnet" as the spirits, aliens and mystic energies strangely (Read- Predictably) center around the Demi-aura. And this is the biggest issue I have with this show: Demi Lovato is inevitably picked as "The Anointed One" in every single episode. Outcomes are telegraphed each and every time: not in a well-done, thoughtful foreshadowing way, but in a blatantly obvious sophomoric way.

The show is essentially "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" starring Demi Lovato with a superficial glance at the paranomral and metaphysics. If you like Demi Lovato, you'll probably like this show. If you're interested in the paranormal, you might like this show. If you like good story-telling, you'll probably want to go rewatch GoT minus the last season.

A show to boost Demi's ego
amikkapenttinen2 January 2022
Not a good show at all, only fun when watching and ranting at it with friends. The camerawork is decent but the chemistry between Demi and her companions are not shown well, they just come off as unintelligent and dumbfounded for people that seem to be interested in the topics at hand.

This whole show would be more believable if they didn't encounter stuff at every point and make Demi into a person with mega-energy and psychic capabilities that works without fail every time.

Is this serious?

Warning: Spoilers
The whole thing is BEYOND absurd. All the nonsense about the "alien" having experienced "trauma caused by a man" is literally one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Amazing how she finds a fully woke alien. If she were trying to make this believable, she shouldn't have let her own personal beliefs so OBVIOUSLY leak into the words of the "alien" in which she was allegedly communicating . L O L

Next episode will be the big pronoun reveal for the PTSD Alien...can't wait.

Ugh. We knew Demi Lovato was nuts but this only further cements it.

Im not some "non-believer" either. In fact I'm pretty certain other species exist out there. They just used the wrong person to do this show.

She is an awful conceded person not worthy of my time.

Really?
cappycabbage14 October 2021
This entire spectacle is nothing more than a love note for lovato and her drug-fueled antics. For someone who claims to be drug free, this show wouldn't prove that. It's nothing short of a social media personality spacewaster. I love a good ghost story/alien encounter tale, but I can't stand projected lies and silly b.s. There's nothing here that was exciting or even interesting unless you're a lovato lover and for that I think you need your own form of therapy. There were no ALIENS and the show tries to make lovato out to be some blessed alien cohort. Riiiiiight......

Demi is being offensive with this special. Unless she admits this is a hoax.
royaldivajanetj-8710919 October 2021
For a public figure like Demi to take this on is disturbing. Unless Demi has her own 100% Facts she shouldnt make other individuals with mental issues feel safe when she herself is battling her own demons that she hasn't conquered. She totally feels ok to make others question her sanity when she keeps claiming to not have owned her own. She laughs in this show like everything she interviews is a joke. Dont claim to be abducted unless you have facts Demi. You're a negative to those who have been though this. Have you surfaced you're own issues since you're out there recording innocent individuals? You're making a joke of these individuals! I'm calling a fake depressed/anxiety person to the light.

You're 2 friends were the worst. Wake up girl!

At its best, cringe; most of the time, boring
vanessavegan30 March 2022
Demi Lovato believes in UFO's apparently and so here's this show where they go looking for them. Somehow this involves talking to a female ghost who has trauma, according to Demi, who then sings for the ghost because God has abandoned us and now Demi and her low IQ hipster coterie have chased the little green men away because what if someone on the home planet saw this? I have Peacock, there are good shows on there. Whoever greenlit this buffoonery should be embarrassed forever.

The public rantings of a lunatic
derrirp918 December 2021
Demi Lovato is clearly having some kind of mental break. The fringe, gender nonsense, constant talk of trauma and now visitors from space.

This is a woman who is clearly not well.

This show gives me secondhand embarrassment. This show is just another vessel for her to spew her nonsense. She knows nothing about aliens. I wish she would just go away.

There is Truth Here
cocoahobbitt10 May 2022
I love that Demi is helping to get this topic in front of the masses. Some will deny we're being visited no matter what you do, but many might have their eyes opened or perhaps their interest sparked by this series. I hope she decides to make more.

Demi waiving a laser into the sky and saying it's a ufo
stevenamcdonald-0767129 January 2022
So terrible you can't look away. They literally watched satellites cross the night sky and said "well since we can't identify it for sure that means it was an unidentified flying object. So we really made contact"

-LIKE, OMG...-style MTV-like series-
lostangelz11 January 2022
I don't want to shoot down her own UAP experience but this is far from the way I personally think what a UAP documentary should be like. I don't know *what* this is. This is a -LIKE, OMG...-style MTV-like series. This is why the we (the UAP-community) get mocked and not taken seriously. This is why we better not call them UFOs but UAPs.

Disclaimer

This trash show was filmed before demi realized she could get more attention by being referred to as they. Her previous pronouns are used and NBCU airs this uncut with the support of her ego. I love me some aliens, but this is hot garbage.

Are you serious Demi ?
darolynbarber1 April 2022
... I'm not skeptical about aliens, but I am skeptical about all that bad acting. This was basically one of those phony ghost hunter shows accept with aliens. I wanted to like this show but I just couldn't. It was desperate, and not believable at all. It also wasn't entertaining to watch.

This is why aliens won't visit us
wormsoftheerth24 October 2022
Just finished watching the hilariously dumb Kesha supernatural show and naturally moved on to this hoping for more of the same level of entertaining trash. Unfortunately, while the Kesha show manages to be so bad and ridiculous that it's really entertaining, Unidentified fails on every level and is supremely boring. Neither the show nor Demi bring anything to the table here. It's immediately clear that Demi doesn't have more than a surface level interest in or knowledge of aliens (and next to none in the paranormal) and as such adds absolutely nothing to any of the conversations or interactions. She/they displays no real personality (other than arbitrarily inserting stuff about their own struggles), and doesn't seem to have any plan or purpose, the result is they come across as a passenger in their own show, just along for the ride. There are no "wow Demi is really off the rails" moments. There are no "wow Demi is really over the top annoying/obnoxious/disrespectful" moments either, just a steady stream of of "Demi is expectedly and unentertainingly annoying/obnoxious/disrespectful" moments. The sister and friend are so prosaic that nothing would be lost if they weren't there. The scenarios are boring at best, and at worst too trite/corny to provide entertainment. It's clear there was minimal effort put into this show - after a single episode they lose sight of investigating Aliens/UFOs and instead we get generic ghost hunting stuff in ep 2 and corny mermaid stuff in ep 3. Even when Demi engages in an activity that should provide particularly juicy/trashy/absurd/ridiculous results, such as the hypnotherapy to recount her, uh, "UFO experience", the results are vapid and void of any level of entertainment. The Kesha show was entertaining because of solid locations + excellent editing which artificially created drama and atmosphere that was over the top & cheesy in all the right ways (combined with the endless cringe and absurdity from Kesha herself) -- Unidentified doesn't even try; there are hardly any re-enactments/dramatizations or moments of drama. Even in segments that are ripe for playing up for dramatic effect (like when Demi is scuba diving and the communication equipment stops working), nothing is done. It's all just incredibly pointless and completely lacks entertainment value on any level.

Hilarious and fun
pizzasleazy18 May 2022
Old farts won't enjoy it but a younger audience will definitely appreciate the back and forth banter between Demi, her sister, and BFF. Demi has had a fascination with aliens long before her Disney days and it was nice seeing them tap into that.

Fun and eye opening series!
pandadarling28 November 2021
I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between Demi, their sister, and their best friend Matthew. The banter and skepticism made it more believable and as a viewer you felt like you were on the journey to discovery with them. It's nice to see them branch off and take on a hobby that they have shown interest in in the past.
