With Thor: Ragnarok quickly approaching, and looking to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s strongest efforts to date, might we add, it’s almost about time to start getting excited for the studio’s 2018 slate. And while projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Panther are certainly worth paying attention to, it’s undoubtedly Avengers: Infinity War that’s going to be hogging the lion’s share of the spotlight come next year.
Joe and Anthony Russo’s landmark event movie is currently on course for a release on May 4th, 2018, and it’ll herald the advent of Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan and his squadron of galactic accomplices. Yes, after much foreshadowing, we know Thanos to be the primary antagonist of the Russo brothers’ ensemble piece, who wages an Infinity War to bring ‘balance’ back to the universe. Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.
Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

Despite beating the snot out of everyone’s favorite super villain Loki in The Avengers, it looks like Tony Stark has a rough road ahead of him for his upcoming outing, Iron Man 3. In a new still released today by Marvel (shown above), we see everyone’s favorite (or at least my favorite) Avenger all suited up and not in the best shape. From the looks of it, he seems to have taken quite a beating, likely at the hands of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin.
No word yet on which scene this still is taken from but one thing is for sure and that is that the road to victory won’t be easy for Iron Man. It looks like things will be getting dark and dangerous for the playboy billionaire. He doesn’t seem too happy in the still either as he wears a somber expression on his face.

If you love "Community," then Thurs., May 17 will be a very cool, cool, cool treat. Sure, fans have all been fighting for six seasons and a movie, but three episodes for a finale isn't bad either.
According to The Futon Critic, NBC will be airing 90 minutes of "Community" for its big Season 3 finale, right smack in the middle of May sweeps. The finale, which was originally set to be an hour long with back-to-back episodes, is getting another episode thrown in the mix, bookending that night's Season 6 finale of "30 Rock" (8:30 p.m. Et).
While some may see this as the network trying to burn off remaining episodes of the show, others view it as a vote of confidence for "Community," which has always struggled in the ratings, but has seen an uptick the past few weeks after its hiatus. Airing three episodes of any show on one night is a bold move,...

I went into this week’s episode of Supernatural expecting a light, fun caper. After all, it was about the boys (and returning guest star DJ Qualls) hunting a monster you could only see while intoxicated. Yay, silly fun!
And while it certainly delivered on that level, it also caught me off guard with some rather sobering moments. (Pun completely intended.) Not the least of which was a final-moment return that had me tearing up a bit. [Don't read on if you haven't seen the episode.]

"Thor" brought all of its signature lightning to bear upon moviegoers this weekend, lighting up the box office with an impressive $66 million debut. Though some had their issues with Marvel's latest superhero release, many of the actors and writers lurking about Twitter-Wood expressed their overall satisfaction with the Asgardian adventure.
While it was "Thor" that dominated the box office, Mother's Day took plenty of deserved attention for itself. Several Hollywood players were celebrating the holiday for themselves, while others offered some dirty (but good-natured) jokes instead of well-wishes.
Plus, who didn't much care for "The Beaver"? The answer to that and more rests past the jump.

Last week, Marvel unveiled the theatrical trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, their May 6, 2011 release and the next stand-alone piece of the Avengers puzzle. While the trailer itself is epic in scope, I thought I might provide some context that might explain what exactly is happening in this two and a half minutes. First, watch the trailer:
This post does contain spoilers. However, since this particular Thor trailer focuses on reminding people that lovely actress (and probable Oscar winner) Natalie Portman is in the film, many of the shots are of the God of Thunder on Earth from the portion of the plot where he is exiled from the kingdom of Asgard. As a result, there is quite a bit omitted from the movie’s predominantly otherwordly (Nine Worlds) settings, such as Asgard and Jotunheim.
Those shots feature Portman’s character, Jane Foster, an astrophysicist in the movie rather than...
