"Don't get attached" is the theme of this entire season

What on Earth were the writers thinking, reducing Villanelle's screentime to something this insignificant?

How to fix this show: Reduce Helene and Pam's screentime. Return Villanelle from the current mess of a character she is and make her the lead - she is the heart of the show. Steer Eve's story to something that is more centered around Villanelle considering their relationship plays a key part in this show's success. Some parts of this episode felt similar to earlier seasons so I have hope that the last 3 will pick up.... hopefully...

Back to basics?

We get more creative killing from Villanelle, even more cool dresses, and a hilarious Camilos scene! Unfortunately Villanelle has been like a supporting actress these days. Eve is doing nice detective work, but she's also playing with fire (Helene), leading to devastating consequence. Carolyn's flashback is really nicely integrated, but I feel like it should have been done last season, rather than so close to the series finale. As @darkerpassenger rightfully pointed out, we are here for the Villanelle-Eve relationship, but they've gone their separate ways for way over a season now. Given the ending of this episode... I don't really know. Please don't screw up the final season...

adult version of whack-a-mole

This episode had me in fits of laughter -the writers def have a warped sense of humour. Story is progressing nicely with the 12 - i dont always have 150 characters to say.

Don't Get Attached

Warning: Spoilers
Season 4 seems to be more about Carolyn as we have flashbacks of her as a young woman.

She has infiltrated a radical left organisation in Germany. It brought her into contact with a young Konstantin.

It was carolyn who came up with the name The Twelve.

Villanelle finds out that getting rid of abusive husbands is a full time job.

Eve is continuing her dangerous game with Helene but the latter knows that Villanelle will always be Eve's weak point.

I did like the black and white flashbacks to late 1970s and early 80s West Germany. It was still the days of the Berlin Wall.

It also cements how close Carolyn and Konstantin have been close as friends and antagonists.

Finally Eve and Villanelle might be getting close but it could still be a pointed relationship.

Pointless

I feel like i've watched the very simple identity reveal about twelve (like seriously? That was the absolute best the writers could think of?), Vilanelle having no personality or purpose and was just freely roaming around and Eve being obsessed and annoying. Oh and don't forget about Helene and Pam who are getting more screen time than Vilanelle and Eve together. There are only 3 episodes left, all the character development built over the years was flushed down the toilet by lazy writers and the whole story doesn't even make sense anymore. This season ruined the entire show.

Is Jodie Comer leaving the show?
doujyr20 March 2022
Ok I know this is the final season, but if I didn't know that then the way Villanelle has been written out would make me think Jodie Comer was leaving the show. Villanelle is now just a bit part.

The huge success of this show was entirely due to Jodie Comer's stunning performances as VIllanelle but she's been reduced to a minor part of what is now the Fiona Shaw show. And who is this ex-mortuary person? I have absolutely zero engagement with her character.

It wouldn't come as any surprise if Villanelle dies and Jodie Comer doesn't appear in the last 3 eps. Even if she does I'm afraid the damage is done. I'll still rewatch season one, but this is now just a joke.

[4.8] Very good choice of young people

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 5: A little better than the previous episode with great flashbacks, some interesting vibe & flow, B/W scenes & shots, one crazy laugh, with still too many characters lurking around (this time for a good purpose) and a sad sense of non-urgency and safety for main and side characters up until the "shocking" end.
