Known the world over for haunting artwork painted in his own blood, surrealist painter and award-winning tattoo artist Vincent Castiglia has announced that he will be offering new hand-painted/embellished Giclée prints of his work for the first time. While Castiglia is already well regarded in the art world (his latest gallery showing at Sacred Gallery NYC made worldwide news), his fame has increased greatly over the last couple of years among the horror and extreme-music communities. He won the 2012 award for “Tattoo Artist of the Year” from ThisisHorror.co.uk, and he is the first American artist to receive a solo exhibition invitation from H.R. He also designed the official poster for the MTV-produced horror film Savage County, and the album art for Eparistera Daimones, the 2010 debut album from Triptykon (founded by Celtic Frost's Tom Gabriel...

Forget Jason, Freddy, Michael, and all of the rest. There is only one group out there who knows how to cut deeper than anyone else, the MPAA. Recently Rob Hall's upcoming film ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 went before them, and guess what?!?
They immediately slapped the movie with the dreaded Nc-17 rating. Having already seen the movie, I can tell you as a fact there's no way this wasn't going to happen. Ltr 2 is riddled with some of the most insane bits of violence and kills we've ever seen. Not kidding either. This flick is Nuts, and we love it!
When reached for comment about the rating, director Hall chimed in with the following ...
"I think it's great the MPAA had a problem with almost every kill in the film", says Hall. "If they didn't, we wouldn't have done our jobs correctly. They have a job to do,...

Laid to Rest was a classic. I haven’t seen a slasher that violent in a long time that wasn’t hyped with stars and crazy promotion like Hatchet was. Don’t get me wrong I love Hatchet too. Slasher movies are why I watch these films and fell in love with horror in the first place. The first time I saw Laid to Rest it was a late night and I was falling asleep and immediately woke up and dove into this film. I recall screaming (yes, screaming) during multiple portions of the film. That’s why I was so excited when I saw a sequel was being made, and now we have an official release date! Chrome Skull: Laid to Rest 2 directed by Robert Hall will be in theaters September 20th, 2011.

Filmmaker Brian T. Jaynes promised he'll be putting together three trailers in all for his upcoming Humans Versus Zombies, and so far we've seen two of them. While we wait for number three, how about a new poster?
The synopsis for Humans Versus Zombies, which Jaynes co-wrote with Devan Sagliani, follows:
Students on summer break are exposed to a deadly virus, a neuroinvasive organism that is spread rapidly through direct human contact. The infected are enslaved by the invading “swarm” intelligence and driven by an insatiable appetite to consume human flesh. Returning home, the students spread the infection to their fellow classmates and other unsuspecting townspeople. One by one, more students fall victim to the plague, triggering an epidemic that spawns a horde of ravenous zombies.

Snakes on a plane...sharks on a lake. I see how this works. What I didn't see was David Ellis' reptile creature feature because number one, I don't like snakes and number two, I don't like snakes. But at least the flying snakes had Samuel L. Jackson to help get people on board. Even the barely watchable Cellular had Kim Basinger kicking some ass to elevate it past Lifetime fare. But for his next film, either Ellis has completely given up trying to get a recognizable name, or he is simply unable - so I guess Relativity (who just picked up distribution rights) is banking on 3D and the inherent allure of sharks.
Without so much as a title or a name you can recognize, Untitled 3D Shark Thriller is making its way to the big screen, apparently hoping to be the next generation's Jaws. According to Variety, the...

Week Two of shooting ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 was one of the more interesting times on set. Insane amounts of blood, new faces, and watching a very dedicated cast and crew come together to make the impossible possible have demonstrated everyone’s dedication to bringing horror fans a new installment in the Laid to Rest franchise.
Late in Week One we lost cast member Michael Biehn, who had to depart to film another production in Tunisia, but that meant we got to welcome the awesome Owain Yeoman as our new Detective King. I used to be a huge fan of Fox’s “Kitchen Confidential” so was pretty psyched he was able to join the team.
Which brings me to some new info I can finally reveal. We’ve been doing our best to keep a lot of stuff under wraps, but we’ve gotten our official cast list and synopsis finalized,...

In advance of the world premiere of his new slasher flick "Savage County" on MTV2 tonight, October 7, at 11 p.m. (10 p.m. Central), director David Harris has been guest-blogging on MTV News to share some thoughts on making the film. He talked about marketing the movie on Tuesday, offered up some horror-movie-making tips yesterday, and today he introduces the up-and-coming cast (like Ana Ayora, pictured to the right).
It's pretty rare for a horror movie to get an Academy Award, and even rarer for that award to go to the cast. (Quick Quiz: Which actors have won Academy Awards for horror movies? Answers at the bottom.)
Even actors who love horror movies have to look elsewhere for their field's top accolades. But horror has been a launching ground for a lot of famous names before they were famous names: Johnny Depp ("Nightmare on Elm Street"), Jennifer Anniston ("Leprechaun"), Mischa Barton...

In advance of the world premiere of his new slasher flick "Savage County" on MTV2 this Thursday, October 7, at 11 p.m. (10 p.m. Central), director David Harris guest-blogs to share some thoughts on making the film. Come back Wednesday and Thursday for additional posts by Harris.
Hey, it's David, the director of "Savage County," hoping you'll check out my movie's world premiere on MTV2 this Thursday. MTV News has been cool enough to give me this soapbox to tell you about "Savage County." And, even though I should probably be plugging the trailer, I want to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the cooler "stealth" things we've been up to.
Low-budget movie marketing has always been about showmanship (my boss, David Gale, planted Napoleon in the audience of Trl when he was releasing "Napoleon Dynamite"). But no genre beats horror when it comes to gonzo marketing --...

And another big 3D fish is looking to take a bite out of the box office next year (hopefully a bigger one than Piranha 3D did, we're still pissed about its performance) as the cast for David R. Ellis' Shark Night 3D is finally fleshing out.
According to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog Sinqua Walls ("Savage County"), Chris Carmack (The Butterfly Effect: Revelation), Alyssa Diaz (Red Dawn) and Joel David Moore (pictured right; Hatchet, Avatar) have all signed on to chum the waters.
Shark Night 3D revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.
Ellis will be directing from a script by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes.

New York -- MTV is looking for a bit of the same magic that corporate sibling Paramount had with "Paranormal Activity" as it experiments with new distribution and marketing methods in the digital age.
The cable network has teamed with digital information service and marketer Eventful to launch a social media campaign for its forthcoming indie slasher film "Savage County," which it originally had planned to release as a Web series.
MTV still doesn't plan to release it in theaters, but it has added a potential TV run to the mix that would come in October, in time for Halloween.
To help raise awareness and create a sense of investment in the 80-minute film, MTV is working with Eventful to allow folks to "demand" to see the movie at http://eventful.com/competitions/savagecounty2010. If at least 100,000 people want it, MTV2 will air the movie, according to a spokesman (the...

On the heels of My Super Psycho Sweet 16, MTV is gearing up on their new made-for-online horror film. Beyond the break you'll some first stills. On the last weekend before prom, a mismatched group of high school kids heads to a remote pond to drink beer and hang out. When the beer runs dry, the conversation turns to daring Patrick, the runt of the group, into knocking on the door of the Hardells - the reclusive family that owns the land the pond is on. Patrick takes up the dare, knocks on the Hardells' door and finds himself staring down the barrel of a shotgun. More...

Director David Harris sent along some exclusive pics (see them below) from his fright feature Savage County, an MTV production which will be presented in eight 10-minute on-line installments beginning next February. Lensed in Memphis, Tn this past summer, the movie (scripted by Harris and Dan Alvarado) is about a group of high-schoolers who run afoul of a vicious backwoods family, the Hardells.
Savage County is an unabashed homage to vintage rural horrors of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre breed, though Harris notes it has a true-life inspiration as well. “I grew up in Texas,” he tells Fango, “and as a kid, I was 100 percent sure that Chainsaw 1 and 2 were documentaries. We had a big woods near our neighborhood, with a 1800s house and a rambling old man with a shotgun and 100 cats—basically, a slightly less decrepit ‘Grandpa.’ That was the original big scare for me, and there was no...

This year, MTV offered up its take on the slasher genre with My Super Psycho Sweet 16 . Now, the network is exploring Savage County , which culls its inspiration from the mad hillbilly sub-genre. Project is going to be rolled out as an eight-episode web series from director David Harris and producers David Gale ( Varsity Blues ) and Craig Brewer ( Hustle and Flow ). Harris shot the film during the summer on hi-def in Memphis, Tennessee. Leading the cast is Mimi Michaels (pictured, Boogeyman 3 ). Savage County is described as a tribute to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with "great indie rock and rockabilly music and a twist of teen drama." Set before prom, a mismatched group of high school kids heads to a remote pond to party. When the beer runs dry, the...
