Jumping the cradle, once again....

Warning: Spoilers
It's only episode 4, and already we've had more sentiment then comedy in a TV sitcom created by Mel Brooks and starring two of his best character performers. This episode once again focuses on Cloris Leachman, giving up her rigid persona when she finds that she can stop a baby from crying while teething which is disturbing a local football team that is trying to get some rest. Leachman begins neglecting her duties as head housekeeper which turns the hotel upside down as vermin are discovered dining on the leftovers left in the hall while the two maids are gossiping just doors away.

I'm sure back in 1989, audiences didn't tune into a sitcom, especially a new one, to be moved. They wanted last, and that's what you expect when you're watching Cloris Leachman and Harvey Korman. It is funny to see Korman and the elevator man trying to tiptoe on the floor with both of their shoes causing it to squeak, but the bits of comedy are few and far between. The rest of the cast has individual moments, but it's very apparent that they are totally being upstaged by the vets, and the writing seems to be on the wall for the series already.
