French TV gem
searchanddestroy-121 February 2024
Not the kind of material that could interest American audiences. Raymond Souplex plays his own role, his own character, under his own name. Let me explain that Raymond Souplex was a star of French TV industry in the sixties and early seventies; he died in 1972. He starred on LES CINQ DERNIERES MINUTES,a famous TV show. It is strange, a bit riveting, very surprising even from today's standards, so imagine in 1971. The story is weird, fun, The lead character - Souplex - finds himself prisoner in a strange hotel. This story is a metaphor, a fun tale about TV indusrty and stardom, fame that can concern actors. I don't want to spoil this unusual and interesting plot. Weird, twisted story, partly inspired by Agatha Christie TEN LITTLE N... or Sidney Lumet's TWELVE ANGRY MEN. And it'samusig to have in the cast Marc Eyraud and Jacques Debary, who both replace Raymond Souplex after his death in the tv show LES CINQ DERNIRES MINUTES.
