Very slow paced storyline, but good acting...

I sat down here in 2020 to watch the 2011 movie "Kaasan Mom's Life" (aka "Mainichi kâsan") without ever having heard about it, nor did I know what I was in for here. But director Shôtarô Kobayashi's movie was listed as a comedy, and combined with it being a Japanese movie, of course I managed to find the time to sit down and watch it.

Well, this movie was bland. First and foremost, I must say that the acting performances put on throughout the course of the movie were really good. However, the movie was just suffering terribly from a fairly boring script and storyline without much of any interest actually happening in the nearly two hours the movie ran for.

I did manage to sit through the entire movie, although it just felt like the movie was running on autopilot in a very, very monotonous pacing. And for a comedy, then "Kaasan Mom's Life" was horribly devoid of humor and laughs.

While the movie had good acting performances, that was hardly sufficient to make up for the abysmally slow pacing of the movie and the mundane storyline.

I wasn't particularly impressed with the movie, and I found the movie to just be overall mediocre. Which results in a very middle rating for the movie from me. A mere five out of ten stars.
