Fine opening monologue. Good to see John doing so well in recovery, and proving that with the addiction-related material he deployed.

Also, one of the best Weekend Update segments in years. All the jokes worked - some more than others, of course. The time seemed better spent with nothing but topical wisecracks from the anchors without any of the (usually more annoying than funny) guest characters. Those bits have rarely been a plus since the era of Bill Hader's Stefon.

I think John Mulaney wrote most of these skits. It shows. They were almost all very funny. The performers were all terrific. They just need material like this to shine. Not the crap they're usually handed.

The two COVID-related skits and Weekend Update were hilarious. The opening with the Ukrainian chorus singing a prayer for Ukraine was stark, beautiful, and very moving. Really well done. Kudos for that.

The only real clunker of the night was the musical guest. They were truly awful.

Thank you, Lorne Michaels, and the rest of the cast of Saturday Night Live for showing respect and love to the Ukraine. We all stand in solidarity with you. 🇺🇦

Watched this episode thrice just to be sure I was correct after reading other's positive reviews. The starting with the Ukrainian choir was different and good. I think what happened is SNL was trying something "new" after weeks of doing nothing during the Winter Olympics because most of this episode just seemed "off" compared to several recent episodes that were entertaining. Many of the jokes did not land or missed the mark. Weekend Update was the best segment. The rest made me think "what just happened "? I kind of understood what they were trying to do to be funny and the jokes being referenced to make me laugh, but it felt disconnected as if too many guests and scenes were being crammed in to this episode and it suffered a stroke. Hopefully this episode was just an occasional fluke. I noticed the laugh track seemed over used as if needed to cue viewers that something funny had occurred. Musical guest was painful to watch.
