Bubbly Kate Bliss!!
kidboots26 April 2013
This is yet another of those reality antique shows Britain loves so much, helped enormously by the host, bubbly Kate Bliss. Every week she, with three antique experts in tow, visit two families who literally open their houses and invite the experts to bid on almost any piece of furniture or antique they have. With pocket weighers in hand there is usually a mad scramble to the bedroom where the experts greedily ogle all the gold that is available (trinkets, rings, brooches etc) - gold fetching huge prices at the moment. I find it a bit depressing as many of them say it will all be melted down and you see all the little charm bracelets that mean so much to many of the householders.

The other week I noticed a woman who I recognized from "Antique Masters" - her home was beautiful but to me it was clear she was only after her 15 minutes of fame as item after item was rejected as not being a fair enough price. She was also quick to ask Kate "what is the independent value" of such and such - Kate was probably peeved but, as usual, she put on her sunniest face. On the very plus side people do seem to collect so many interesting things. There was a couple with a pretty big house and from ceiling to floor it was filled with all things naval - the wife was very eager to part with items, the husband not so much!! Another house was decorated in French Empire style - it was just beautiful. So many lovely houses, each week we sit by the TV and say "I could easily live in that house"!!!

The episodes we see have Kate Bliss but I've just found out that she is not in the later series. A pity, I wouldn't bother watching it without her.
