Generic, sure, but still entertaining...

Granted, I hadn't even heard of this 2010 Thai horror movie titled "The Intruder" (aka "Khew ar-khard"). But the fact that I was given a chance to watch it and that it was an Asian horror movie was more than sufficient to make me want to sit down and spend time on it.

First of all, the title is rather poorly selected. Sure, the cobras were intruding in the building, but I mean, come on, it just was such a poor choice of title. Because "The Intruder" would hint at someone entering where not allowed, or maybe even a supernatural entity making such intrusion.

But moving on. In terms of entertainment value, then "The Intruder" wasn't actually that bad. It turned out to be surprisingly good actually. Sure, it was generic and might as well have been titled "Snakes in a Building", but the movie was campy enough to actually be entertaining.

Now, the CGI animated snakes, while having good enough textures and looked real enough, just suffered from some poorly animation transition from computer to movie. They were surrounded by a black outlining halo and moved awkwardly. That was a shame, because the snakes were such an important focal point of the movie.

The acting in the movie was good. And I was enjoying the fact that none of the actors or actresses were familiar to me, as I tend to like watching new talents on the screen and not associate them with previously portrayed characters.

For a horror movie then "The Intruder" wasn't particularly impressive, but hey, it is what it is. I am rating this 2010 movie from director Thanadol Nualsuth a six out of ten stars. I was adequately entertained, although I doubt that I will ever be returning to watch it a second time.
