Extreme Coupon Fraud
nadroj32114 November 2012
That's all this show is. You really believe with some well saved newspaper clippings and mail offers you'll save upwards of 75% on your next grocery trip? Sounds too good to be true? Why aren't there more people doing this? Stores that don't double up on more than 3 coupons changed their policy for the show coming to town. The ladies here manipulate the codes themselves to find out what UPC code works with what product. This way you could use the same general mills coupon on cheerios even if it's meant for fiber one (the much more expensive cereal)It's completely unrealistic savings and all of the women involved are thieving scum. http://www.jillcataldo.com/node/16258

Why?
chips-1924 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This has to be the most pointless TV series ever. I am completely confused as to why this show even exists! Seriously, this show is nothing more than watching people going grocery shopping, but the twist is that they use tons of coupons so that they don't have to pay. THAT'S THE PLOT! Seriously, these people are such cheapskates that they make themselves and their entire family suffer, along with the cashier at the store they are shopping at. Every SINGLE episode goes like this:People who practice this "Extreme Couponing" are introduced, and it shows them going successfully bringing a huge amount of groceries down to a low price. Then the next time we see them (or the next person on the show) something goes wrong and they have to spend 20 dollars more than if their calculations were correct. It is at this point that they get upset (I have yet to see somebody cry, though it wouldn't surprise me) and the audience is supposed to be upset and feel sorry for these unfortunate people. How are we supposed to feel sorry for them? They bought 800 dollars worth of food and are SHOCKED to pay 50 dollars when they wanted to pay 20. These people have problems and I'm not sure why this show is promoting this lifestyle as if it is "Livin the Fancy Life"!

This is completely fake.

Extreme Couponing is a television series that had its preview December 2010, and then after receiving over 2 million viewers, a series order was put through and it started airing April 2011.

Extreme Couponing is a scripted television show that portrays the idea of getting the most bang for your buck through the use of coupons. In Season 1 a woman from Maryland acquires coupons and manages to attain $2000.00 of groceries for only $100.00 (yeah right!). Also, in season one a woman of Arizona is able to feed a family of six on $50 per week (A little bit more realistic). In Season 2, a mother is able to feed her family of seven and 200 parishioners for below $100 a month and the list goes on. There have been some questions as to the show's coupon credibility but this really provides more of a challenge for the everyday citizen to shop smart and is highly entertaining as well. I've tried some of the techniques displayed on the show, but in Canada you are usually limited to 1 coupon per item, and there aren't any "cash back" coupon deals like those displayed on the show. Some of my friends have been able to save 50% on their groceries - once per year, but that's it. It makes me feel this show is fake. - Asif Zamir

Fun to Watch, but remember it is "Reality" TV
kaikhor3 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
There are comments about how this isn't real. Well, of course it isn't! It's Reality TV. Like all in this genre, it is real people, but it isn't real. Many of the stores allow their official policy to be ignored for so they can get their name on the air. Many of them will do things they wouldn't regularly do because it makes for good TV, like climbing in dumpsters. If you look into the background of the people, you will see very few of them buy that many at a time regularly. It is done for TV. They want ratings! If you like coupons and understand that this is not the way real couponing works, then it is fun. I like watching them do the deals. I like seeing them as they worry about their totals and seeing just how much they have gathered. It is a fun diversion as a couponer, but I know that it is Reality TV and not real.

I love the show extreme couponing. I like to coupon. You actually can save that much money by having tons of coupons. You just have to find stores that will accept doubled coupons. Great show yall! Never underestimate the impossible. If you work hard at it you will get your results and these ladies do so. Its also a funny hobby but can consist of a lot of your time.
