Excellent Low Budget Family Film
mireliz816 November 2011
I had the pleasure of watching this film at a recent screening. I have to say this film was really something special for first time filmmakers. While most first timers are trying to shock you, throw in drugs and alcohol problems, try crazy tactics or just overall try too hard to make you pay attention to them...the filmmakers that made Under the Western Sun are doing something completely different and are trying to make a film that anyone can watch. This movie is perfect for families, but it's also perfect for anyone else wanting to watch a solid fun film. I came out of the theater with a big smile and was thoroughly entertained. Bravo!

A Film Like The Old Days

I just signed up to IMDb, just so I could review this film. We rented this the other night and we found it to be a great low budget film. I was amazed that this movie cost $15,000 because they did so many things in the film and it looked really professional.

I really liked the characters and I think this movie is made for people in Middle America. The creators state this movie is not made for festivals and I can see why since most festival movies are usually depressing or disappointing.

Anyway, this is a great film and I hope we will see more from this cast and crew in the future.

Great family film with some intriguing new actors (and director).

UNDER THE WESTERN SUN is like the city mouse visits the country mouse in order to deal with some real family issues, but with a light touch. Director Danny Cameron makes his feature debut and scores lots of points with a real plot and some solid acting by unknowns like Mark Scheibmeir, Troy Streuer and Pam Eichner. This film is full of fresh faces and lots of humor, and a taste of country -- not stereotyped, but very modern and colorful. The new faces and places keep you guessing about which way things will go. Does money trump family, or vice-versa, or maybe is it a little more complicated than that? I felt I was watching a western set in the modern world, but without the guns--except this was WITH the guns, and horses and the tears and laughs, and characters looking for the real stuff -- I give UNDER THE WESTERN SUN a thumbs up, and hope it gets into general release.
