Exclusive: Deadline can reveal before Sunday’s world premiere of the David O. Russell-directed Amsterdam that the film’s final musical number “Time” was done with help from Drake and platinum recording artist Giveon.
Daniel Pemberton wrote the original score for the film, and he was also inspired to create a song based on his score’s melodic theme. Working with producer Matthew Budman, who believed the film’s empowering message about the bonds of friendship was perfectly suited for a song, they reached out to Budman’s business partner and the film’s executive producer, Drake. He turned to friend and collaborator Giveon to perform the song, which Drake and Jahaan Sweet wrote together and which Pemberton produced.

The result, “Time,” combines the original score’s main theme with Giveon’s rich, classic vocals, woodwind instrumentation, and a piano track by Sweet.

Guru Studio, an award-winning Toronto-based studio, is keen to get a slice of China’s animation market, which has been growing quickly.
“China has the single biggest TV audience in the world and is the second big economy. It’s a natural move for us to build a brand in China,” said Louise Jones, Guru VP of finance and business affairs, at a FilMart panel discussion on animation on Tuesday.
A day earlier, 20 episodes of Guru Studio’s flagship preschool series, “True and the Rainbow Kingdom,” were released on Qq Player, a multimedia player developed by Tencent. It Guru’s first major foray into China. It previously collaborated with iQiyi and Tencent Video to show “Justin Time,” another original, but smaller, production.
For “True,” Guru Studio formed partnership with Chinese entertainment firm Hengxin Shambala Kids (Guangzhou) Cultural Industry Development, which serves as an agent helping it with everything from streaming to merchandising to publishing.

Ira said about making her film: “I’ve been working with clay since I was a child and for me it is the material where I can express myself the best. It is a very honest material and people have been using it for centuries. Warm Snow is a very personal movie; I’m sure many of us have this feeling of being not fair to our parents, and this was my way to apologise and to show them my love.“

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.
I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.
Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.

I love the art of animation, and it's amazing to see how far things have come and advanced over the years. The industry is changing in terms of technology, but what it all really comes down to is telling good stories. There's been a lot of great animated movies this year, and many of them are up for several awards at the 40th Annual Annie Awards.
Some of the movies nomainated include Brave, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, and Wreck-It Ralph. Out of those films my favorite is a toss up between Wreck-It Ralph and ParaNorman, those were two pretty incredible films. I think ParaNorman has the edge though.
Some of the other animated properties nominated are Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, Disney Tron: Uprising, Justice League: Doom, Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special', South Park ‘Raising the Bar’, and several others.
