Awful in every possible way Warning: Spoilers
Words fail to describe how awful this cartoon is. While at first sight it seems just like a bad Family Guy rip-off, the truth is that this cartoon is much worse than that.

Not only the animation is extremely poor and unappealing (With robotic movements, lack of expressions in the faces of the characters, a horrible colorization and ugly designs) but also the plot is incredibly boring and dull. This shows fails at being funny. I saw a couple of episodes, and none of the jokes made me laugh or even chuckle. The bad thing is that dumb series is not only unfunny and boring, but also incredibly annoying as well, having many unlikeable and clichéd characters devoid of any interesting quality about them.

"Crash Canyon" could be one of the worst cartoons that I've seen in my whole life. Avoid it like plague.

I would rate it with zero stars if I could.

Flat jokes and un-original plot, what a Crash.
robinknas5 July 2012
I must say, that i did expect this cartoon to be of decent quality. After all, someone associated the slightest bit to The Simpsons is supposedly involved, so that sounded pretty good at start. After watching through the first and hopefully last, seasons episodes, i am loss for words how horrible this is.

Don't get me wrong, i am in no way some expert critic as regarding to shows on TV, or cartoons for that matter, but this show must have some of the worst played out stereotypical characters there is. The bored teenager, the one black family, the dimwit father, and the list goes on and on. I don't know where unoriginality ends and plagiarism begins, but this is quite close to plagiarism. The similarities between this, most characters of The Simpsons/Family Guy/Cleveland Show/American dad is unreal.

If i could, i would've given this show zero stars. But since it IS awful as the one star vote says, that's what it has to be then.

A very poor Family Guy rip off
mallen9250623 January 2013
Lets get this out of the way first, aside from the various other cartoons it rips off, Crash Canyon is trying so hard to be Canada's Family Guy that it get very distracting.

The setting is very restricted. Being stuck down a canyon means this sitcom is stuck with the same situation which leads to the plots becoming very stale.

The jokes are the same as Family Guy: cutaways. And by the same I mean they use exact the same jokes as Family Guy. The worst thing is I think they know their humour isn't working so when they think the audience is supposed to laugh they put in an obnoxious musical cue. That's desperation.

The characters a bland. Again so many characters ripped off from Family Guy, Simpsons, American Dad, the list goes on.

And of all things the theme song is irritating beyond belief. So much high pitched singing!

Bottom line: It's crap. Limiting premise, failed jokes and poor animation. Wanna watch something exactly the same but funnier? Watch Family Guy.

Why was this made?
michl0d9 March 2016
Ah. Yes. Crash Canyon. I still remember in 2012, when people we're hyped by this oddity, because a Simpsons writer was involved, there was some though this show would be decent, but it seems that "Simpsons Writer" wasn't really as "good" as they though to be, because this show turned out into massive bull when it came out. Even so, i think teletoon was literally trying to get rid of this show after his original release, because there was no in-channel advertising and it was playing really late, uniquely.

Really. I may sound hysterical, but this literally makes shows like Fugget about It look worth while, compared to this. I still even regret starting this review and even paying attention to this show yet again, but there i did.

So many things to say about this already, from the awful writing, to the boring and predictable plots, to really ugly and bland design choices, to annoyingly awful voice acting, to all the characters that are oblivious bland copy and pastes of Seth McFarland trope characters, to finish with animation being as robotic and uninteresting that couldn't even compare to those amateur flash animation on the internet, but i'm not even going to bother to go further in details, thats how little i care. Everything about this show is simply wrong, and already, i probably don't need to specify, since i think people did some justice about this show before me.

So, to finish with, i'm glad Teletoon decided to get rid of this horrid monstrosity, it was a fault since the start, it deserved a 4.0 and even lower, and the people who made this clearly didn't have thoughts or even ideas clear on what they were dealing with. I rest my case.

This literately made me feel physically ill.
samyewlhouse3 January 2013
I was watching South Park on VIVA and for some reason Crash Canyon came on instead of one of the South Park episodes, being lazy as hell I didn't want to change the channel and just watched the Crash Canyon episode, this was possibly one of the strangest experiences of my life. I don't know if it was because I had just watched about 4 episodes of South Park but the stale, boring humor, bland, annoying voices and seriously unoriginal and unfunny characters literately made me feel sick, I'm honestly not joking, the jokes were so unfunny that I found myself cringing through at least 80% of the episode, I may be a bit quick to judge seeing as I've only seen the one episode but after reading other user's reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who dislikes this program. I can see where it tried with the randomness and attempted LOL moments but unfortunately it failed miserably, so much so that I made an account just to leave this review. If you're looking to roll on the floor laughing I suggest South Park or newer Family Guy episodes.

WHO Exactly Was This Meant For?
ShillingSide8 June 2022
We binge-watched the entire series... and... we still aren't quite sure what the point was. It was almost like the Family Guy formula was used for Gilligan's Island. None of the characters come anywhere near to being likeable; if we chuckled more then 4 or 5 times the entire series I'd be amazed.

Also... mentioning Saskatchewan and Montreal 5 or 6 times is the ONLY Canadian content in this. Nearly every character is clearly an AMERICAN stereotype, and the landscape is clearly SW USA.

If you want to see the people version of "Confuse-A-Cat", watch this.

Nice premise, mediocre implementation
patrickfilbeck3 August 2021
Crash Canyon is definitely not as bad as the series is often said to be. Sure, there are more than obvious bonds to Family Guy and American Dad, but the original premise is fun. Do you know the situation when episodes appeared in the aforementioned cartoon classics that you had hoped the series makers would devote themselves to the topic in more detail? Crash Canyon looks like the Canadians clearly have this need. The premise is funny and personable, but not exploited enough. Instead, stories from everyday life are told, as they could have happened outside of the canyon. The animations are satisfactory, but significantly less detailed than the American greats of the genre. The characters are paler, but still sufficiently amiable and about every third episode makes you laugh or at least smile. The series is really supported primarily by the premise. The intro is short and cool, so no idea why so much is being hacked into here. The same goes for the simple but suitable background music.

Not only not funny. Physically sickening.
thejoetaylor-5815128 August 2023
Just binged the whole series... Still waiting to laugh at anything. That's not even the bad part. The animation is SO wonky! Characters flash white when they move and once you see it, you'll never not notice. It almost looks as if they go into "ghost mode" everytime they move. I noticed during the pilot episode and figured they'd fix it in future episodes... Nope. It's the same for the run of the entire series. After a couple episodes, it made me nauseous, and I had to look away for quite awhile then I could only watch in about 5 minute increments afterwards without getting physically sick. Never happened with another cartoon.

Naysayers gonna say nay
jaydaline5 November 2012
I absolutely love this show. It is original, quirky and completely one of a kind. Everyone is quick to compare it to the Simpsons or other "similar shows"... Really, if you want something like The Simpsons, you will probably hate the heck out of this show. However, if you are looking for something that is a little whacked and very funny in a "WTF" type way, look no further! With such characters as Coma Steve and Dummy, it fills my need for slapstick, wordplay and torture (& tortured) humour all in one slap to the face. I do hope this show is around long enough to become a cult classic.

15 cult lovin' thumbs up!

One Great Strength, A Plethora of Weaknesses
isaacwest-6600117 September 2023
Maybe as an Albertan I'm a little biased but I enjoyed this show, while also understanding it's pitfalls.

When it comes to comedy I enjoy outlandish characters, and in Crash Canyon there is a whole host of wild a goofy characters, and it's this shows greatest strengths, in fact I think this show does better than most when it comes or having a good cast of oddities. Every character is uniquely enjoyable, and there's very few shows I can say do that .Unfortunately, that's the show's only strength.

The animation is quite terrible, though I never minded it, but more egregiously no episode and a memorable plot. The setting was rather fun though.

I personally would've like to see more from this show as I value odd characters the most, but I'm not delusional: I understand why it was had a short shelf-life.

First of all NO Canadian knows this show
samanthajeanrobertson29 March 2023
I am watching this show in Alberta Canada as we speak, though I am originally from Montreal.

Nothing about this show appears Canadian. The characters and setting and storylines have no Canadian bearing. The French Canadian character's accent is less convincing than Pepe Le Peu. The creator shouldn't have bothered to make him french Canadian.

I haven't laughed once. I haven't related to any of the characters or even enjoyed them. My partner and I agree the expression for this cartoon would be "Anaemic". Lacking any heart or balls.

If you want to watch funny Canadian content, by all means do. I recommend: Trailer Park Boys, Schits Creek, Kids in the Hall, and Kim's Convenience. Sorry none of these are animated. Please check out the original seasons of these shows as they are very popular and all have spin off material.

Cheers from a Canadian!

the awesome crew of Alberta people stuck in a canyon
zstarr-147-64849229 October 2011
It's an awesome show, really funny. I like Vernon the most out of all the family and the rich people that have a mansion in the canyon, the mom LIKES her son and thinks her daughter is UGLY! The guy with the monkey assistant who used to work at Nasa is also pretty funny when he acts like he's a soldier (more like a scientist.) the torture lady TM (my personal nickname) who always hits that bear with her cane and talks like a man is extremely funny! (SPOILER ALERT) i like when the bear gets off the hook because her (HIS) husband comes back and the first thing she says to him when she meets him again is that "you still have chores to do." aahhh good times good times. So i think i made my point about it being really funny so if you haven't checked it out do it now! it's on Teletoon at Night on weekends.

A rip off of crappy shows rates a ten?
graves-scott1 February 2022
What is wrong with people? Giving another generic family animated show anything over 7 is a sign of mental illness. A ten should be reserved for movies and shows that change your worldview and totally rock your existence. Shows that you quote for years after seeing it.

Excellent show!
duffsters129 May 2012
This show is really good and very funny! A laugh out loud show, it is amazing and really creative as well. In my opinion this show is creative because of its hilarious characters. Like the prostitute Frida, the woman who talks like a man and hits his bear, the rich people who the mother likes his son and finds her daughter ugly, the hyper-funny Sarah, and the "slave". Another character (actually my favorite one), is Vernon, the funny-perve fat guy who talks really stupid things LOL.

One funny thing is that it isn't neither like the Simpsons or Family Guy talking respectively to the fathers (Homer and Peter), unlike Norm is a very intelligent guy and not a drunk and stupid man. Another funny thing is her wife Sheila who has anger problems. Overall this show is hilarious and really creative.

Wrapping it up I give this show a 10 out of 10!

Excellent, humorous series, and here's why
Lokowski25 March 2013
Someone mentioned this before, and I strongly agree. Do NOT compare Crash Canyon to The Simpsons of Family Guy. This cartoon is a different kind altogether in its own right. If you're LOOKING for a show like The Simpsons or Family Guy, avoid this one!

It's actually a very enjoyable series, but there are a few tiny flaws - but not enough to bring my rating down. The first is the extremely annoying characters like Vernon. You just love to hate them. Second, is the stereotypes. Now I thought Family Guy was ridiculous for stereotypes and I think this show comes a close second. The stereotypes just get annoying after a while.

But whilst watching, you'll realise it's an excellent, quirky cartoon, which has taken a different approach to mainstream adult cartoons of today, but I have to say that Crash Canyon is an acquired taste. You either love it - or you hate it. That being said, I still think it is incredibly underrated and would have done well for another season. Shame really. I'll miss it.

Found it nice.
ddavidflisar12 July 2021
I'll be real, I don't know if it's a rip off but I honestly found it funny and enjoyed watching it. For a fact I know that It didn't air long, but they did have nicely made episodes at least in my opinion.

Warning: Spoilers
I stumbled on Crash Canyon on Tubi! I think it's completely awesome! Iv seen a lot of personal talk bad about this show, and say it's a rip off of Family guy, American dad etc! And I don't see it at all! I like how the show did evolve a bit like how they got a damn to have more power! And more people showed up! The only thing that I didn't care for was some of the sound effects don't match properly! But other then that I really enjoyed it!
