- The film is about preteen girl Violetta's mother grooming, coercing, and bribing her into posing for increasingly explicit erotic photographs. Violetta experiences inappropriate behavior by adults.
- Violetta is seen several times in bra and panties. Makeup and costumes for photography give her a more adult appearance; the bottoms of some of the costumes cover no more of her butt than a thong would. The film shows no other live nudity of Violetta, but dialog makes clear that the photos her mother is taking expose the girl's breasts and genitals.
- Adult women show full frontal and rear nudity several times while posing and in other non-sexual situations.
- The film makes clear that Violetta is unhappy with these circumstances and with the photography in particular. See spoilers below.
- Dialog refers to an incestuous rape that took place decades ago.

- As the film progresses, Violetta is shown favoring more revealing everyday clothing, such as short-shorts, and wearing makeup more often.
- "My Little Princess" does not mention filmmaking and gives no specific hint that "Violetta" may soon go on to act in "Maladolescenza."
- Violetta rejects efforts by her mother to let a man with whom the girl is posing touch her around the breasts.
- Near the film's end Violetta discovers that a photo of her fully nude has been published on the cover of a magazine. The cover is poorly seen, but the same photo appears as an advertising poster on a wall which is visible for several seconds. Her breasts are hidden by her long hair and detail in the genital area is airbrushed to obscurity.
