Season 3 epilogue
estathena225 May 2022
A hurricane is a great metaphor for the season we've survived, one with so few ups & far too many downs. I'm emotionally exhausted from it - the season and this melancholy episode, but look forward to a summer of rest hoping for next sesson, for better.

What a mess

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been one downer after another. I am not sure a hurricane like that would hit New York..this episode was really full of chaos...all these doctors tangled relationships ending in a depressing way..The break up of Eggie and his husband was a downer...the ER doctor and her past girlfriend parting was another downer and the icing on the cake Max and Helen.... I am so sick of Helen..I hope Max doesn't go to her..I never liked them together. I am hoping next season will be better.

Disaster Hits New Amsterdam in Too Many Ways
herbqedi26 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The season finale was full of destruction as a re-routed category 4 Hurricane suddenly hits the hospital broadside. Since there is only an interim medical director incapable of making decisions and all other department heads refuse Bloom's requests, Iggy takes charge with lots of spot-on help by Gladys. Individual dramas abound during the crisis, particularly one with Max and another with Lauren. Periodic crises are confronted and resolved in an interesting and satisfactory manner.

Meanwhile, Reynolds continues his mission to connect with his father (Insightfully and strongly played by James McDaniel). In fact, their scenes were easily the best in this episode.

It is after normal power is restored and everyone is safe that the script runs amok far more destructively than the hurricane. It seemed like a cheeky idea one misanthropic writer had over lunch and everyone else thought it was cool. Whatever the reasoning, the series' fans will remember and most will revile this episode not for its first 30+ minutes of crisis-themed entertainment but for the cop-outs and feeble explanations that follow.

The writers have lost their minds
david-344426 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is by far the worst episode of the series so far. Nothing makes sense. The disasters are all completely unrealistic. Dr. Bloom just happens to encounter human trafficking in the ED. Dr. Reynolds just happens to be in a room where a woman is pinned under a beam. Max just ha opens to be walking past a guy who gets pinned under a food cart - AND the guy's kidney is failing. AND there's apparently only one stairwell inside the hospital. Iggy just happens to have a whole group of patients in a stairwell where there's a carbon monoxide leak, then in a hallway with downed electric wires and water spreading on the floor. And there's no other way to get anywhere in the hospital. And there are no other people anywhere around in a giant, busy hospital.

Then the writers blew up every relationship for no reason. Characters didn't behave like themselves. People just gave up. No one cares enough about anyone else to even discuss things. I know they have to create tension in order to have drama, but have they lost the ability to do something that isn't tired and unimaginative?

Let down

I loathe this episode, starting with the plot that was double-ripped off the worst tradition of Grey's Anatomy up to the complete mess they made out of all doctors' personal lives. As an added bonus, it was boring from start to finish.

Had the potential to save this show, but only ruined it further.

This whole season has been depressing and confusing and exhausting, with awful inconsistent storylines that only made the main characters look like the village idiots of the story. But through it all, we kept watching, because SURELY it's all leading to something! Right? Right???

Nope. All of those nonsense plots, the character embarrassments and misery, only added up to the most ridiculous and depressing episode of all. And ironically, I've never laughed harder. It was so absurd and unnecessarily over the top that it became a comedy of errors.

How easily that hospital fell apart only left me feeling like it just needs to be shut down completely. It could barely even function under the best circumstances. Everyone who works there are complete trainwrecks and would be better off leaving. Going to that hospital seems like a greater risk to the patients lives than medical debt.

Speaking of the patients--I could list several patient stories from the first 2 seasons that truly moved me. I don't even think I could recount 2 patients from this entire season... they've become pointless background filler for the leads to project their relationship troubles on to and nothing more. What used to be the heart of this show is now the least memorable, and that's a real shame.

The final shot of our now "independent" leads, prancing around with flowers in the sunshine as if their lives are on top of the world, now staring blankly at their "fearless leader" looking like a complete fool, was the cherry on top of this s- cake. They seem to all be in denial of how they've completely destroyed their lives. If that was intentional? Bravo. But the greatest joke of them all seems to be the writers thinking anyone would care to come back to see what happens next to these manic narcissists.

This show earned its early cancelation long before it reached its lowest point the last several episodes, but after that finale, why bother coming back at all.

Very disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
The worst episod ever. Only mess and missery in everybody live. All building up to Max and Helen wedding and joy for all team and than creating Helen the vilian who due to her mental instability (?) calls of the wedding which a few hours ago she was so happy and prepared. Something happened but all was set to make Helen to look as worst vilian.

And all weding prepare was ..... no Luna, waiting for Helen to get of plane stright to wedding.

This create so much hate to Helen and sadly also to Freema and disrespect to her with less than 2 minutes appearance in finale. What was the purpose to break up Max and Helen. The worst it seems the procucers mqy not want to fix it.

I don't know why New Amsterdam would do this. Reminds me of greys anatomy's unrealistic episodes. I think this one the season final. It was bad, boring and a mess. The show was picking up and I was really looking forward to this episode. What a shame. And Helen? I never liked them together, never felt the chemistry between them. I hope they both find someone more suitable. What a disappointment this episode was.

Worst episode since the Max/Helen phone sex episode
becrogers-6702227 May 2022
I was hoping that the season finale might get the show back on track. But nope!

The plot & sub plots were just ridiculously unrealistic.

The Max/Helen union never worked for me and I love Freema as an actress. There's just no chemistry between them.

And why o why doesn't Bloom just marry Leyla. Surely this would help her to stay in the country.

The only positive was Iggy was right about Martin.

Kind of glad they'll finish this show up next season because it has officially "Jumped the Shark!"
