Alan Cumming had some fantastic performances over the years in other Drama and Comedy series. So, I was excited to see what he can bring to reality TV. But 20 minutes in, it's becoming increasingly clear that he probably owes a lot of gambling debt or a huge favor to some despicable characters to agree to appear in this. His lines are not funny, sometimes outright weird. He tried really hard to make every sentence a suspense, but it just didn't work.
But who cares as long as he gets paid, right?
As for the contestants, I'm not gonna get into details of what they actually said or had done. Let's just say: nobody has any spark with each other or the host or in themselves. They all eager to talk about their general backgrounds and past experiences and how they were the good fit for a show like this and how they are going to bring that X-factor to the show: big sales talk all the time! And then you saw them turn around and just broke their characters. Didn't they just say they were devious and can spot the unusual suspects?
It felt like the audience is watching a bunch of headless flies droning around pointless suspensions reading out loud passionately by Alan Cumming.
I dare you try this. See if you can make it all the way to the end of episode one.
