Another Interesting & Engaging Drama Depicting Kota's Fierce Competition !!!
cs_rahul_prasad6 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When shows like 'Kota Factory', 'Laakhon Mein Ek', and others have already delved into the underbelly of Kota's coaching system and the struggles of students eyeing for an IIT seat, it's fair to compare Vijay Maurya's 'Crash Course' to them because the basic premise isn't novel. But, this 10-part series offers an interesting insight into the cut-throat competition between two major coaching institutes and the impact it has on students' lives. The conflicts between these institutions (often portrayed as villains of the system) are emphasized more in the narrative than the journey of the students, their friendship, peer pressure and much more.

Ratanraj Jindal's (Annu Kapoor) institute is a large shark in the coaching industry, attempting to devour all the smaller ones. RJ's rival Batra institute comes in second, led by Arvind Batra (Siddharth Kak), also known as the "Father of Education in Kota," and his son Shashank (Bhanu Uday). Both competitors share the same goal: to enroll as many students as possible and produce the most top scorers. Arvind opposes this policy and even distances himself from Shashank, who has marketing expertise and is constantly devising dubious strategies to compete with RJ Institute. Amid all this, the students become collateral damage.

Vijay Maurya has expertly captured the flavor of the city by focusing on local streets before moving on to eateries and the mess where students spend most of their time. With the help of close-up shots, he also manages to capture the characters' tense mood. 'Crash Course' is created by Manish Hariprasad, who has also co-written the series with Raina Roy. The drama is certainly intriguing and holds your attention for the most part, but shorter episodes may have made it easier to binge watch. The 50-minute episodes ruin the show's momentum by repeating most of the sequences. Cutting the scenes showcasing the marketing and competitive skills of both institutes, which take up a lot of screentime, would have helped.

Annu Kapoor is outstanding as Jindal, and he truly meant it when he said, "Jindal all the Way," over and over again. He is an openly cunning, money-minded individual, and Kapoor has nailed it. Bhanu Uday is convincing as Jindal's rival. Udit Aora portrays Binny, who swaps sides between the two institutes for his own gain, quite effectively.

These Gen-Z actors, including Vidhi Gupta (Anushka Kaushik), Sathya Srinivasan (Hridhu Haroon), Anil Baid (Mohit Solanki), Aviral Bharti (Bhavesh Balchandani), Rakesh Gulia (Aryan Singh), Nikki (Anvesha Vij), and Tejal Patel (Hetal Gada), are convincing in their respective roles. One can easily relate to everyone's personal and ambitious life. They really shine when it comes to pushing the limits.

But, there are some characters who fail to show their need in the show, for instance, Bidita Bag's Antara. It's challenging to discern where her story is going and how it fits into the drama. Another character is Shanaya, played by Ridhhi Kumar. She is a chirpy, happy-go-lucky girl who comes from a conservative family but aspires to fly high. Her character arc is sketchy at best.

'Crash Course' has nothing new to offer in terms of insights. One thing that remains constant throughout the show, if not more, is that you will miss Kota Factory's Jeetu Bhaiya and his words of wisdom... All in all, this crash course isn't mandatory, but it is well worth taking once!

Kota Factory - the dark version
Biswas_6 August 2022
It may be hard for many to digest that this series is basically a rip-off of TVF's Kota Factory but what the makers of crash course have tried is to portray Kota and it's institutes in a much darker fashion than the former.

A lot of things are inspired from Kota factory starting from friendships, love stories , the institutes and their hunger for rank, a physics teacher quite similar to Jeetu bhaiya but what they added was more dark content in it and that made the series quite interesting. The dreams of Mr. Jindal played by Annu Kapoor and how it ultimately leads to the downfall of several young aspirants and even young teachers is the plot.

Some places i found that unnecessary things were added for more darker content, like for example the panther boys was unnecessary. Another absurd thing in this series was the intro. The intro does not match the mood of this series at all. Maybe it matched the mood of the first few episodes but after that the intro just doesn't make sense with the rest of the episodes.

Another issue is the length of this series. Unnecessarily elongated towards the end and often slowing down the pace may bother many.

Overall, an interesting yet one time watch. Keep your Kota factory ego aside and watch it you may find it quite interesting.

School/College days are most memorable. They are always bittersweet.
shashankkhatri5 August 2022
The show successfully captured different issues and emotions students go through in the coaching capital 'KOTA'. Series is engaging, casting is on point, there's drama but it isn't dramatic. Conflicts between students seemed real and relatable, reminds you of your college days when you were trying to figure out life in chaos where your perspective was the absolute truth but in hindsight you see so many other variables and perspective.

The show also question Indian obsession with IIT and how easy it is to manipulate parents and students with fear. There are so many likeable characters but Annu Kappor at his despicable best steals the show. The star cast really complemented each other. Actors to watchout for Anushka Kaushik, Hridhu Haroon and Aryan Singh.

Dynamite
sameerlodaya6 August 2022
Sameer lodaya

The series is dynamite of content, acting ,facts ,emotions ,chemistry darkness,,and characters

At the very first episode you will feel this is simply Kota factory but the makers knowing this fact they went ahead to make this that's was real macho..the content has driven in a very strong way to 10 episodes making it tight gripping..as the episodes travels it becomes very intense and interesting which only a perfect director delivers

The sole of the series is the cast hats off to casting director Mukesh chhabra..anu kapoor mastered his character it was unbeatable with Gaurav ,udit ,pranay..the students performed out class mainly anushka mohit hridhu and riddhi these are dynamites of acting that just need a ignite to blow up

The twist they created to reach the climax will shatter you and in the end they have also strongly opened the doors for another season

Pace of the series was concern they should had concluded to 8 episodes which would make more sense

With darlings this weekend this has to be added to watchlist.

Kota In Students mind
traj-450255 August 2022
In CRASH COURSE you can feel the real students mind conditions when they are in kota. At the Age of 16-17 we want to do everything we met new people. We are fighting with ourselves in kota we don't get reasons behind that in that Age why? Always afraid of rank in test because rank will decide you batch for next month.

It's really a nostalgia for those who lived in kota during Preparation of IIT and NEET In The chaos of coaching institutions.

Very good work done by all the team of CRASH COURSE. Veteran actor annu sir and Anushka kaushik done really great work. Thanks to all team for this masterpiece.

Slow paced but did that job.
imabhitweezz6 August 2022
Yes it's slow paced and quite lengthy and could have cut down short as possible. But delivered what the director wanted to convey to the audience. Of course there are flaws in the script, Vijay Maurya did his well to stick to point and facts. As always the best performance goes to the show stealer Mr. Annu Kapoor he was brilliant and some supporting cast also did good.

Could have been better
dhiraj-yahoo22 August 2022
Instead of 10 episodes same could be done in 5-6 with more relevant content. Story pace is very slow and difficult to keep the connect. So much fillers with non sense content and songs which doesn't make sense.

Kota Factory Directed by Karan Johar & Anurag Kashyap
faltuausmail20 August 2022
One time watchable. One and only Annu Kapoor doing his work brilliantly. Rest of the actor and actress good but I didn't get any attachments there struggles in there role. Unnecessary sex, love and family issues. Its not clear what actually they are doing!!! However its a timepass watchable. I think director too much influence of Karan and Kashyap..😂

Nowhere close to Kota factory
loveedua9 August 2022
It might be the darker version of Kota factory as people are saying but it's not even half as entertaining as Kota factory. Not recommended at all . Instead watch that one again . This show is over the Tope and somehow feels very unreal while watching it .

A good web-series, boring and slow sometimes
AdityaShankar090115 August 2022
The first few and last few episodes are boring as hell, but the middle ones are exciting. After watching back-to-back episodes, it felt like a short film trying to tell me not to take things for granted. Teenage issues that arise out of negligence are shown (Riddhi Kumar's character mainly)

The business and political side of the story involving Mr. RJ ('don of the coaching mafia') was dragged a lot. Viewers may find it boring. All I can say is that what the series displays can be found relatable if you, too, are into JEE NEET Coaching race during your teenage.

It seems to be influenced by Bollywood formulaic directors. Some cliché moments are there to look for. Unnecessary swearing, toxic masculinity/femininity, vulgar scenes, petty "dosti" and "pyaar" dialogues (that are overused in Bollywood), etc. Are filled in this!

A bit slow at places; it is still overall a good web series to look out for.

Kota Factory: Game of Thrones version
garg42697 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As most reviews already say, this series is a darker version of Kota Factory. I would largely agree with that and would call it a depiction of the dark underbelly and the hard truths of the coaching institutes running in Kota, the coaching hub of India. Given the amount of politics, rivalry, numerous plot-threads, the show could easily be called: Kota Factory: Game of Thrones version. Though, there are no dragons or zombies here, at least not literal ones.

Before continuing, let me be upfront and confess that though I have cleared JEE and thus have experienced 4 years of hostel life at IIT, I have never studied or taken coaching at Kota. So my knowledge on the subject of kota coaching institutes is purely based on whatever I have heard from my batchmates and IIT aspirants, and not personal experience.

The story of the show is convincing, at least by Indian web-series standard, though not all of its subplots work. Some subplots are completely unnecessary (e.g. The relationship of Antara and Rakesh, Panther boys, Mayank Batra's murder), some are just stretched too far (e.g. Shanaya's pregnancy and abortion) and some are just underdeveloped (e.g. Shanaya's relationship with her uncle and aunt or that of Vidhi with her parents which would have been great insights into why they did what they did.). Mayank Batra's murder is so hurried and brushed under the carpet so fast that it makes me feel that it was written by a different writer altogether.

One big issue I have with it is that there is no almost light moment, every moment varies from serious to damn serious to WTF.

The acting is pretty good for a web series, something that Prime videos has now been consistent at for a long time now. Annu Kapoor is of course the captain of the ship who seems to be controlling the game, and he is complemented well by Udit Arora, Bhanu Uday, Pranay Pachauri, and Anushka Kaushik in other lead roles. All the kids have done well for what is the first major acting gig for most of them. Siddharth Kak is underused, and Bidita Bag's character is hard to understand.

Another notable acting failure to mention is that of Vidhi's father.. his acting makes me think that either his role was poorly written, or he is just a terrible actor; he doesn't any emotion other than a straight-faced angry old man even once, even when he's supposed to be grieving.

The background score is engaging, the cinematography is very colorful (one big clear difference from Kota Factory which is almost monochromatic).

The episodic length is being criticized more than it should be. In my opinion, the length was okay, but the number of episodes could be brought down to 7 or 8 by reducing unnecessary and overdrawn sequences.

The last episode leaves many questions unanswered and thus enough scope for a 2nd season, which I hope comes before people forget about this first season altogether.

All in all, this is definitely a one-time watch for anyone who has studied at Kota, or has ever been a part of hostel life, or is just looking for a serious drama about the cut-throat world we live in. 7 out of 10 for me.

Kota factory, but directed by Karan Johar.

Over acting, Lack of depth in characters and their stories, Unrealistic approach of telling the story that's already been told by the best in the game. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Fabulous master piece
sumittikri5 August 2022
Fabulous series ..seen after long time ..well written, directed and acted by new gems. A eye candy series , beautiful designed carefully directed and extraordinary camera work . Few fight scenes are so natural as we had in our hostel days. The way of entrainment has changed from last decade but these hostel scenes were there when we used to be in boarding school in 80s . Hostel Life doesn't change rather than reading porn magazines to watching.. must watch series.

Actors Performances > Story & Direction
proabhinav7 August 2022
While the series motive would have been to throw light on the Kota Coaching machines, forced aspirations of parents and their kids, conflicting ambitions ... what won me was all the new actors in the show ..

Best actors I felt ought to go to Shanaya & Anil, small roles but impactful. Amazed to see Shanaya giving her once again superb performance in her second role after Human. She acted superb in that series too, maybe the only highlight of that show with her then co-actor.

Character Vidhi and her story is again amazing and well acted by the actor, her story and screenplay in climax roles are touching, emotional and great.

Needless to mention the 4 friends, each one of them have given a great performance and hope they continue to get success in times to come as well.

While show might have been overall average for me, all credit goes to above characters/actors for keeping me hooked to the show :)
