This is my fourth favorite in the Pac-Man franchise. I also feel it's a bit of an under the radar gem as it's another entry in the series that's been forgotten. This is the franchise that just keeps on giving as the series was trying to go on the road not taken which I'm fine with because I don't really want too much of the same thing. On a sidenote this is another game that came out on my birth year, which helps make the game even more special to me.

I really like the gameplay in the game, this game it utilizes the same maze action format, but here the game play is somewhat different but also makes things a little tricker than before. This may seem a little strange at first but after a while you get use to it and it actually feels natural.

Instead of dots you have food that you have the chop down, but it's not that simple as the fruit is all locked behind sections from red doors and there are two ways to open them.

One is the key obviously, but what isn't obvious is that each of the keys are all scattered and once you chomp down on one, it will open the doors of one or two of the sections. Once their open it will give you the opportunity to venture a particular section and chomp the fruit.

But of course, beware as the ghosts as usual are on your tail and can follow you, God forbid one of the sections if not all the doors are opened. This is a game that causes you to not just chomp all the fruit to complete a level as fast as you can but to pick your pathways and moves carefully as your in motion as there is potential risk not just to get nailed by ghosts at the wrong place but to be entrapped if not all the doorways are opened.

The second way of course is when you chomp on a green super pac pellet, which of course will turn you into Super Pac Man. The green super pac pellet super sizes you which of course makes you strong to break through all the red doors in the game.

You can't chomp down on the ghosts with this, even though that would have been cool, but you can go over the ghosts which is an advantage. With the regular power pellet, you are able to chomp down on the ghosts, but when you chomp down on one of them there is a time delay, as it slows you down by mere seconds.

But with this super pac pellet being able to go over the ghosts means you will keep mobile and be able to get yourself to safety or complete your business without having to worry about any ghosts that become regenerated after chomp down or just gives small relief from the ghosts that are active. This in a way give the game a slight strategy element because it causes you to figure out how you want to do things or get things done. Though on a side note if you still want to chomp down on the ghosts in Super Pac mode you can still chomp on the power pellet combining the best of both powers and having full advantage of the ghosts and your field.

One of the other unique things of the game is there is this little bonus opportunity that shows up where in the middle of the screen. There are two tiny screens where the one on the left will display an item, and on another it constantly flashing different images. Basically, this is the slot machine game, to attain the bonus you must chomp down on the star which will stop the flickering images. Where the flickering images will stop at one that will match the image on the left, which will give you the bonus. Or if it doesn't match you still get bonus points but not as bit, and if you fail to chomp down on the star on time no bonus.

"Super Pac-Man" is an entry that has altitude.

Rating: 3 and a stars.
