She will be missed.

Mike and Alison have to quickly adapt to hosting a children's party, and one of the ghosts moves on.

I had a feeling that when a ghost moved on in a recent episode that it was brought in to serve a purpose, to allow one of the cast members to leave, I wasn't expecting it to be quite so soon after, and quite so early into the episode, a shame she didn't have one last hurrah.

I think this has been the best episode so far in this series, it had some very amusing moments, and also sone wonderfully moving ones too, it was interesting to see how the ghosts dealt with loss, it's just a really fascinating concept, the dearly departed themselves dealing with loss.

I thought it was Robin that provided the most special moments, and that scene at the end with the stars was quite magical.

All in all, this was excellent, 9/10.

Best episode so far

Warning: Spoilers
Love this programme. Think it does that thing of having genuinely moving storylines about characters you care about, juxtaposed with genuinely laugh out loud and silly moments brilliantly. And this is definitely the best episode for that so far.

Alison is dealing with the ghost's and her own grief while her husband is trying to improvise a kids birthday party at the fame time. The grief storyline had me in tears at the end, it was really quite beautiful.

And I'm really liking the fact that her husband is coming into his own in this series. In the beginning he was very flat and you wondered why she was with him but now they've given him more to do and he's really come into his own. No more then in this episode where her really comes into his own.

This show really does deserve to be more popular. It's definitely one of the best British sitcoms on TV at the moment.

Once a ghost moves on, what happens to the rest?

Warning: Spoilers
One of the ghosts moves on rather suddenly in the beginning of the episode (I won't reveal who). The remainder of the ghosts and Allison must deal with the emotional aftermath while also putting on a children's birthday party.

This episode had me crying. It really did capture some of the true feelings we feel when suddenly someone dies. It reminded me of my dad's passing and how I would go to call him on the phone with news only to remember he no longer exists. The ghosts each process what this person meant to them in their lives, however minor it may have been.

Robin seems to be the only one unaffected, but of course he has seen this time and time again and he reveals his way of dealing with those who get sucked off.

The bit with the children's party was really just filler - the emotional heart of the episode was dealing with this missing character whom we just got to know a little better a few episodes earlier. I'm not sure why the actor decided to leave, but they will be missed.

Gone Gone

Warning: Spoilers
It has been noticeable that Katy Wix's character Mary had scenes where she seemed to be more separated from the other cast members. Indicating that there might have been schedule conflicts for the actress.

Here Wix is written out as Mary ascends. It means the rest of the ghosts are in mourning. Some missing Mary more than they would have thought.

This also includes Alison who feels almost in grieve now that Mary has gone forever.

It leaves Mike to deal with a birthday party that he thought would be for a couple of old ladies. Instead they are two kids with old fashioned names.

I thought the birthday party part was weak as Mike had to make last minute adjustments.

How Mary's loss affected others was nicely handled.

This may not be the best series of Ghosts by a long shot, but this has ben enjoyable TV for the most part. This was a very basic premise of trying to plan a party, and in comedy fashion things go horribly wrong, but it gave us more than enough laughs.

Charlotte Ritchie continues to be great as the lead on the show. And the ghosts almost always deliver, outside of Fanny who I find just too irritating.

A simple and effective of TV. Not going to set any records for viewership or win an Emmy or BAFTA, but easily enjoyable TV. I hope that more series of the show are on the horizon and this is not the end.
