beautifly heartbreaking

Warning: Spoilers
The last montage ... just broke me. When you realize Emma was also Dexter's best friend not only love of his love but also his only person... You can feel his pain and also appreciation to her memories behind.

I can never imagined losing my person behind but while all to montages shown and while he was talking to Emma laying down i couldn't help but got tears in my eyes. Just imagine you got to meet your person just a random 'one day' and for all these years passed you finally got her but lose her before even live full. That tragedy ... Also i believe we will se this show with many awards (i mean we should), acting and storytelling was on point.

One of the best and true novel to tv show for a long time

I did read the book .. long time ago. There was a Hollywood movie about it too. A neh. Did not tell the book right. Too many chlorine bleached snow white many teeths. . This series, tv show justifies the book in a way that is rare. True to script and captured the most important moments. The time settings, the 80's and the 90's and clothes is just wonderful! The atmosphere and what "we" did in the 80's and 90's is also very accurate. I did the streets of London in the 90's and it was just a glimpse. A flashback how it looked like. Kudos to the staffers that set the props and costumes! The whole tv show: Wonderful!

Emma & Dex
hayley967 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I really disliked Dex in the beginning. That guy at your college who seemed to glide through school without a worry because life came to him so easily. His looks and charm would be his career. And then he becomes a TV presenter and turns into a full jerk.

Meanwhile Emma plods along trying to figure it out. You can see she loves Dex in her way but she knows he's toxic. When they get lost in the maze, it's all right there and Dex is getting married to Ice Princess Sylvie and a kid is on the way.

My wife cried at that scene. In fact she cried at all the rest of the episodes, especially episodes 12-14.

And we came to root for Dex and then Emma and Dex. Hate the end of episode 13.

It's absolutely heartbreaking

Having read the book, watched the movie & now demolished the show in 24 hours I am really glad (& majorly sad) that I watched this version, very emotional but there is an element of hope at the end) I didn't like either actors at the start as I am used to Sturgess & Hathaway but really warmed to both by the end

Tim McInerny is as good as Ken Stott & the Mum is slightly better than Patricia Clarkson. I would hazard that this version is much closer to the book. I am now empty of all emotion & really could be doing with watching something less brutal that doesn't leave me completely drained but I loved this & you will too.
