I thought the subject of the documentary was interesting, because it seems as desperate as a parent can get to let someone kidnap your child and incarcerate him or her.
So I was curious as to what would lead a parent to do that, also how the process of getting the child to go would play out.
Unfortunately only a small portion of the documentary show these abductions. Instead the majority of it is spent on the filmmaker feeling sorry for himself because his dad left him as a child. I felt as though he was trying to assert his own insecurities to everyone as facts, while I didn't relate to nearly anything he claimed.
One so far-fetched parable that almost made me jump out of my seat, was when he compared the parents overreacting with the USA nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To me it just seemed as a cheap "shock-tactic" made for effect to make the issue seem more epic and earthshaking then it is.
With all these flaws and annoying camera angles throughout the documentary it wasn't before the end when he revealed that the abductions (the one part of the movie I enjoyed) had been played by actors. This made me feel cheated and I didn't even finished to listen to his final pretentious rambling.
Don't watch this unless you have a soft spot for old men with daddy issues.
