I was lucky enough to see an advance screening of this documentary and much like the drivers the show talks about... it delivers. The documentary covers the people, the track and many anecdotal stories of the history of the Hialeah Speedway. The story covers the formation of the track along with many stories of the drivers who raced there and story's about the people who worked and documented the races. It's a very human sided documentary. It was impressive how much of the history they were able to cover in only 30 minutes as they could have gone another 30 with the story's they covered. If you are a fan of racing, cars or Florida history, you'll really enjoy this documentary.

A very well done documentary on the history of Hialeah Speedway in Miami Florida. It is the story of a by-gone era and it makes me wish that the place still existed. I never attended a whole show there, but I used to watch the cars run from atop the billboards behind the place back in the early 1980s. Now I wish I had become more involved. There is some fantastic archival footage in this and the driver interviews were poignant and interesting. Just the right mix of fact, humor and melancholy. The show is hosted and narrated by Steve Brack. The actor and former Hialeah Speedway track champion was a great casting choice for this. Brack's performance is spot-on. Had it been one of those generic voice-over actors as in every other PBS documentary, I'm afraid this piece would have been a yawn fest. This one is different. Fast, fun and entertaining! A great job done by all.
