The Dream Is Not Me
bobcobb30125 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"The Dream Is Not Me" was a massive step up from some of the previous episodes, but the show is still struggling mightily. There is simply not enough drama and we're not going to get anything until Jamie starts enacting a plan, a plan that we know will fail and land him in an even worse spot than he usually is in.

But some of the dialogue was fine, I'll admit to laughing at the brr/bear bit, but this season continues to be more about showcasing the setting and beautiful exterior as opposed to actually giving us compelling television.

Hoping the rest of the season improves, but this was a step up.

Heart warming episode with a beautiful message.

At this point Yellowstone is a fine-tuned machine. Different parts of story moving along smoothly, each part capable of piquing your interest depending on which characters you're most invested in.

This one has exceptionally memorable writing, especially towards the end. Summer's talk with John was thought provoking. It is definitely something Taylor himself cares about and the words coming out of Summer are Taylor's way of presenting us a road for all who really care about these issues, no matter on which side they are.

I am personally going back and rewatching that part and I suggest you do too. A reasonable voice like this is what we all can use these days.

Thin plot lines
user-3558327 February 2023
And under developed stories. My guess that Taylor Sheridans great and deserved success has him speed thin. 1883 and 1923 and reportedly dozens of deals in development and he may be tapped out for time and story. The bar was set pretty high with the first few seasons but like many shows before it shows it's age. Several episodes this season felt like cowboy music videos stitched together with woefully under developed scenes and plots left me feeling hungry for more. Kasey has largely been absent this season and the bench strength they had last season with strong guest star story archs are also noticeably absent too this year. Just give us More story and less music video.

Slow, lazy, uninteresting
umuterdonmezzz22 December 2022
Show peaked in season 2, 10 points from me, then started to run out of ideas season by season really feel like countdown 10 9 8 7 6.... Politics kills the fun everywhere, it was obvious. At least i want to see the governer doing some business while vultures are all over the place, use that force to create some havoc here and there, instigate other ranches, just dont close your eyes for whats coming.

Fast forwarding many parts as i know nothing importants gonna happen. The newly introduced character using her charms to turn Jamie again, my god how original.

We are watching the slow and inevitable death of the ranch so far and its not dramatic, suspenseful, interesting just booooriiinnngggg.

Watching people just hang out?
pgill-3654022 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Cowboying and people just having a good time. Where's the drama, the twist and/or shocker. Last 3 episodes of the season seem to be dragged and were quite boring. It felt like they were trying to make the cowboy life real as possible and let the audience know what it takes to be a cowboy? I sort of get the point but felt like it was dragged which I understood at first and was hoping it was gonna build up into the last episode and thought I was in for a surprise but the end was just Jamie building up case against his dad which I was expecting. The season started off well but ended weak. I am not really excited about watching the last part of the season but I guess I have no choice since it's coming to an end. Btw Kayce Duttons role got pretty lame in this season.

Another filler episode, music, dancing, live bands
Xavier_Stone20 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show is fast becoming a cowboy version of America's Got Talent. More excuses for live bands, last one was the branding, this one is the fair. Incredibly poor writing, just all background story telling.

I guess they are trying to get everyone emotionally involved, lots of chatter with Beth and how Rip is her perfect match. So either Rip dies or Beth dies, not that hard to figure out. Build their story just so it makes it that more dramatic once it ends.

Ugh. This is for teens. The hippie chick keeps hanging around trying to be useful. Not much else is happening. Some tribe stuff, some politics and Jamie is making plans. Skip this one.

Lazy writing
wagnercol20 December 2022
This show now has the same issue that Billions has - plot devices that have no relation to the way things happen in real life. In Billions it was Chuck showing up at an armored car lot and gets the entire run down of the company fraud from a guy just sitting there (IRL Chuck gets told to pound sand). In this episode, Beth calls the 6666 ranch, and gets a guy on the phone who not only knows just how much beef is sold, but doesn't have the common sense to NOT TELL HER AS IT ISN'T ANY OF HER BUSINESS. And now Jamie is going to do something against his Dad, just out of the blue. Well, I guess he is getting it on with the new Lady McBeth, but c'mon, it is impossible to suspend one's disbelief this much. It's just lazy writing. Sheridan is doing this across all of his series and it shows. And i guarantee thst Beth's plan is going to come into fruition only with the help of the Reservation and all the jobs it will being. I'm not watching this nonsense until I can have all the episodes available and I can fast forward through the lazy parts.

I'm done..this is awful
hpcmakeup30 December 2022
There are shows my husband and I watch together like Succession, White Lotus and Yellowstone unfortunately I cannot handle another minute of this boring ridiculous crap. This show is so awful now I don't know how it still has any ratings or sponsors. Beth is ridiculous with her crying and fighting. Too much Rip!! John Dutton has done nothing for Montana as Governor..where's his secret service protection?? Why does he not have to meet with the state politicians regarding legislation? Why is Jamie turning into a cartoon character villain with jet black hair and an evil giggle. What happened to his baby and girlfriend?? Why is Casey so boring and why is his wife even more annoying this season? Why has Piper Perabo continued to look dirty for an entire season? Why is her face still puffy and red but Beth is back to old wounds from her bombing?

This show is awful!! No more for me. The Masked Singer is more enjoyable.

No Story , No nudity , No Good
doug2go23 December 2022
I have now watched and paid for the first 7 episodes of season 5 and I a not sure I would have watched it if it was free - the series is marking time and going nowhere , it has morphed from an R rated high octane series into a PG afternoon delight - I can't count the number of series that have grabbed an audience with R rated realism only to fall back to a PG 13 or TV 14 series for kids - some have had excellent writing and stories like Homeland and Outlander ( Until Season 5 ) - but Yellowstone needs a story and not the daily round up of two steers and a bar fight . And the next time I see a gal after sex walking around with a sheet tied around her I am going to throw up.

Circling the Drain
macjoyalice4 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 Episode 7

Well, we got to see how two different women support their cowboys having to move south with the herd; one supportive, one 'I'm out of here'. Going to the fair was a nice diversion but holding the hat up for the kiss was kind of disappointing seeing how John is starting to fall for Summer. It was just embarrassing watching an offlander deal with cow health. Strange that the only really strong woman is the Senator. Beth can have eye of the hurricane moments with Rip, rediscovering the beauty of the ranch, Monica is a bit less pouty, the only successful female hand is ok as long as she's not traditionally feminine, but she grows on me. The governor's aide was given a peek into her love life. And Jamie...so easily duped by a female. I agree with someone earlier; I think John and Rainwater will team up for some sort of financial thing to save them both. Has anyone noticed that Walker resembles Festus? And that was a nice send off for Buck Taylor. I cried when John comforted his wife (yes, I know, previous episode). And I'm not a fan of Jimmy, am not looking forward to his spin off. I am in agreement with Costner that this should be the last season.
