So Tired of This Tired Genre
uhafmd6 June 2023
I tried. I honestly tried to like it, despite it being of the overwrought (and overwrote) "found footage" genre. The first one was "The Blair Witch Project," and they blew that one by announcing in advance of its release that is was fake. Since then we've seen a plethora of cheap copies, all determined to make a buck by jumping on the wagon train to fame and fortune. Some with success (think: Cloverfield) and some that should have sunk with hardly a splash (think: this movie).

I'm reminded me of what the late Dorothy Parker said in another context: "This is not a book to be set aside lightly. It should be hurled with great force."

I'm happy to say that I didn't waste a perfectly good bowl of popcorn on this one.

This movie is so bad I don't even know what to say about it . I wish I could have rated it a negative 10 to be honest. I can't believe its rated a 5 on here. Yikes!

Effective Ultra-low Budget Found Footage Movie
GAME CAMERA tells, through found video footage, the story of four friends who go on a hunting trip in an area that had just prior been the scene of a military accident which was speculated to have released a secret bioweapon subatance into the environment.

The production values of this film seem almost at home-movie level, the story is not particularly innovative, the cast is small, and yet....the film has a certain charm which led me to ultimately enjoy watching it.

The four characters are nicely fleshed out, they really seem like individuals rather than tropes, even though some of them have stereotypical aspects (especially the leader of the group). Their interactions with each other seemed natural, and it was nice to see political commentary used as a plot point without outright demonizing either side.

The buildup of doom was steady, and the change in their personalities due to the poison was plausibly presented.

Of course we know how most found footage films end, so no surprise there, but the film nicely managed to keep hope up for a bit.

GAME CAMERA is a fun little found footage horror diversion.

Parts DUCK DYNASTY & WALKING DEAD ...yikes.

Stars: Brad Picard,Ron Ford,Tom Steeber and Steve Kane. Written & Directed By : Ron Ford. This was awesome to a degree in micro-budget that maybe couldn't be filmed anywhere below Washington state. The script sets you up on this 'Deliverance' of a 'Deer Hunter' ! Brad Picard steals the show,Comes off as all those Machismo-fueled bullies,That every 'A' picture has to have. Tom Steeber on the other hand fills in a lot of background nuances to story with his character. This should almost be a FATHERS-DAY themed film next year, Without doing any spoilersÂ… Ron and Steve are used as plot devices and are most welcome when EVIL strikes. Makeup and locations were well above anything one would assume in similar movies.
