SPOILER! Compelling albeit Predictable Viewing

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER...All of the characters are well developed, with Max, Amber, & Ryan being the purest, most believable ones. The most convoluted character has to be Sarah! Her relationship with Mark lacked chemistry, but then so does her relationship with Hank, although I hold out greater hope for those two. I appreciate the strong familial bonds with appropriately involved grandparents. (Ahhh, they don't meddle! Well, at least not the paternal grandparents.)

Perhaps the audience at large didn't think twice about Drew & Amy having sex & then going through an abortion together. I thought it was a shame. Television shows have a way of shoving certain 'abeunt studia in mores' down their viewers throats. Despite this deficit, "Parenthood" sends a whole lot of good messages and even imparts a sense of hope, especially illustrated with the adoption of Victor!

There are many personalities and layers of drama for any viewer to identify with, & therein lies the success of "Parenthood."

Warning: Spoilers
Crosby and Jasmine's family: Crosby and Jasmine's one year anniversary and Rene is moving out and in with Jasmine's brother. Crosby and Jasmine go out to celebrate their anniversary where she tells him about her being pregnant. They then visit Rene and Jasmine's brother telling them about the pregnancy.

Sarah chooses a guy: Sarah arrives at work and Hank has a taxi as he goes off leaving her with the store and an important decision. Mark visits Sarah's making a case for himself to why she should chose him. Sarah visits Mark at school and tells him she picked Hank which seems to have come as a surprise to him. Sarah may have chose Hank but he is moving to be with his daughter and she cannot do that.

Kristina's last treatment: Kristina is told by her doctor she needs one more test even though she is fine which makes her worried. Kristina goes in for her last treatment and while she feels happy about finishing she sees all the other people still suffering. Kristina and Adam share some wine as they celebrate her health. Adam books a vacation but Kristina does not want to go on it. Kristina then comes into Adam's work in pink hair apologising. Kristina goes in for her last examination. Kristina gets told she is cancer free but will still need to keep up with monthly tests until five years.

Victor's Adoption Ceremony: Victor is having his adoption ceremony and Sydney wants no part of it because she believes he does not deserve it. Victor asks Julia if she still wants to go through with the adoption and Julia is 100% behind it. Victor asks Sydney to go to the ceremony and she says yes. The whole Braverman clan go to the ceremony and when they all fit into the room they all make cases to how they will help Victor in anything he needs.

Drew is happy: Drew finds out he got the college he wanted. Drew tells Sarah and his grandparents and they are overjoyed for him. Drew talks to Amy and learns she got into a college that is far away in Boston.

Amber and Ryan reunited: Ryan visits Amber with some flowers happy he got his job back and is feeling better. Amber starts to cry because she has realised how much she loves him. Amber drops by Ryan's and the two become reunited and get back together with one another.

Unlike most dramas this show does not leave use with a cliffhanger but makes us see everyone be happy. The finale was great but for some reason it felt like a series finale which I hope it is not. This season was the best for me with the cancer plot line, Victor's adoption and Amber's relationship with Ryan. While there were some weaknesses everything just gels well together.

EPISODE GRADE: A- (MVP: Monica Potter)

Review of Whole series w/******** SPOILERS ******

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't watch this when it was on because it's a straight- on drama. But it's good. Nice mix of family. Dig that the parents/grandparents aren't clueless old people.

Amber and Drew are most consistent and likable --- SPOILER *** I thought it was a big possibility that Amy was pregnant by her college boyfriend and not Drew.

I liked Mark in the beginning, but he just got sad and desperate for Sarah in the end. I thought they should have brought back the guy from the very beginning who liked her in high-school.

Loved the adoption story-line, the characters stayed true. Joel needing to get out in the world made sense. But he did rock as a stay-at-home dad, and didn't act like it belittled him.

Christina - did Monica Potter get sick of playing a bitch? Not to mention---- Aspergers is high-functioning autism. Remove the word "fair" from Max's vocabulary, and explain there are different rules for everyone. DUH! Christina had the same kind of Cancer I did. There's a list as long as your arm that sends you to a hospital. You don't lay in bed with a cough for 2 days. Really? It was like the script said "ignore Haddie - let Max do what he wants - sex talk with husband - and just when Haddie MIGHT get to go to a decent school have another baby" But highest points were seeing Crosby evolve, Jabbar grow, Haddie and Amber being cousins, and all the various brother/sister/in-law activity that goes on in a typical family. THAT's what made it cool.

Pathetic!
remitromjr20 September 2015
This episode, because it was the final of the season I suppose, took the excellent writing of the previous fourteen episodes and simply stopped the progressive arc the characters were taking and decided to take some ornate ribbons and use them to tie eye-appealing bows on them because they have no regard for the intelligence of us, the viewing audience.

My mother died of complications of Alzheimer's Disease and for the last year of her life she lived in a very dense fog where she was incapable of carrying on any type of conversation, but one day while I was just relating the family and neighborhood gossip and the passing of one of her close neighbors she just looked up and suddenly said, "That's too bad. He was a wonderful friend." It was as if the clouds had parted and a bright ray of sunshine miraculously appeared...it never happened again

In real life those miraculous moments happen rarely, if ever. For them to happen with the accompanying overdose of saccharin sweetness to every single member of the Braverman family SIMULTANEOUSLY stretches credulity at least for me to a level I've never experienced and hope never to repeat.
