Warning: Spoilers
Thankfully, this second episode of YJ's sophomore season is much better than the Season 2 premiere! First, this episode had a much better focus, unlike the premiere which bounced all over the place. This episode "Edible Complex" was mostly focused and centered around the late 90s timeline with the group now 7 months into being stranded in the Canadian wilderness. The main subplots involve the Shauna-CorpseJackie scenes, Tai's continued sleepwalking, and the Nat-Travis trek for sustenance which includes Travis' sidequest to find Javi. The acting in these past timeline scenes was exceptional with the young actresses deftly starting to slowly morph into the characters that we will come to know them as in the present timeline. Also, in the present timeline, the Adult Nat-Lottie interactions were cool with Juliette Lewis stealing scenes and moments with her amazing non-verbal and physical acting, and Simone Kessell deftly portraying Lottie as a manipulative and devious cult leader in the present timeline. But Lottie's "explanation" of how Travis died was all too easy and is assuredly a huge lie. On the Travis topic, both actors were excellent portraying the characters desperation and grief in the two timelines. The best moments of the episode involved a couple of montage scenes: (1) the one showing how Young Nat lied to Travis and faked out Javi's death and (2) the shocking closing scene which shifted between reality and fantasy as the group feasted on Jackie's burned corpse as Coach Ben looked on in horror. The non-verbal acting from Steven Kreuger in that scene was spot on. The only gripe about the past timeline is that I fear that the writers may have rushed the cannibalism subplot. Shauna's first foray into being a cannibal was the result of tons of buildup and had as much to do with her connection to Jackie as it did the hunger angle. But everyone deciding to go cannibal without reservation feels a bit forced. Also, the present-day scenes are starting to drag. I felt like this episode could have only featured the Adult Nat-Lottie scenes for the present and scrapped everything else. Callie continues to be annoying. And I honestly couldn't care less about Tai's wife and kid, but at least Sammy was actually interesting in Season 1 when he was silent and troubled, while now he's just the standard TV kid who smiles and talks all the time; but Simone has always been a dull character. Finally, Adult Misty and Adult Shauna didn't get much to do in this episode. It seemed like back in the first season, the show did a better job of shuffling and smoothly transitioning the past and present timelines while now they flash between scenes that have almost no connection to each other. Minor nitpicks in a generally well written and acted episode, with the past timeline carrying the proceedings.

Shocking

Warning: Spoilers
Ok I am in shock right now. I expected them to be cannibals but not like that at all. This episode was much better than episode 1 and gives me hope for this season. But tbh, I thought the scariest part of this episode was that Sammy wasn't actually in Tai's house. I want to say one thing tho. I don't think Lottie's story about how Travis died is real. I think she made up that story and she actually did something to Travis but feels bad about it so she's covering it up with a fake story. Also does anyone know why Lottie saw Laura Lee while Travis was dying. Like what does Laura Lee have to do with anything. Anyways, this was a great episode and hope the rest of season 2 can keep up.

One more thing, is Sammy still waiting to be picked up?

Episode 202

Warning: Spoilers
Well, they made it quite clear what was going to happen with the title of the episode. I did like the final moment in the end with the coach closing the door knowing that not only had the girls reached a stage they can't come back from, but that he could potentially be next if they felt the need to eat again.

The show is an okay watch, but I think people have to stop acting like this is compelling and original TV. There are a lot better programs out there. But I am curious about what will happen next and how far the supernatural element will actually go.

Hopefully things pick up as the season gets rolling.

This episode was clichéd, predictable, poorly written in parts and had some terrible acting. I mean, that vape line was atrociously cringey. "Vape myself into oblivion", Jesus Christ. The Radiohead song at the end was the only thing that made this worth watching, that was pretty awesome. However, it made me question whether or not the good music in this show is what made it appealing to me in the first place, not the actual substance of the show. I will give Yellowjackets the benefit of the doubt and say that I did enjoy the first season not entirely because of the soundtrack. It was suspenseful, funny in parts, and was generally well written and while the acting still wansnt amazing, it was a good show. Fell off hard.

Hmmm.. Warning: Spoilers
Is anyone else feeling like this show is now all over the place and not quite sure what it's supposed to be? The vibe is entirely different this season, as well. It seems like the writers had an amazing idea for a first season but they never actually knew how they were going to connect those dots yet and bring it together. And once they were okayed for season 2, and had to do that, they struggled to make it happen. Its a bit of a mess, no?. Not to mention how far fetched and unrealistic certain aspects are. I can suspend belief pretty far, for entertainment's sake, but this show is asking a lot. And as for that ending, all the girls (one guy), even the sane ones, have a mass psychotic break and thanksgiving hallucination while devouring Jackie? And the one adult there, that does have authority, let's it all happen without a word? He doesn't even attempt a what is happening?! Or okay, this is what we're doing. Lol. I mean, before there was mushrooms to blame. Also, having an actual discussion about whether or not, in their desperation, they should eat her, would make more sense. I mean, groups of people in these circumstances have done it before...the Donner party, or the Uruguayan rugby team whose plane crashed in the Andes. Anyhow, I'm just not sure where I am with this show now. I'll keep watching but massively disappointed at what could have been. Then again, it's only episode 2 so maybe it will come around. Maybe..

I am completely lost

Warning: Spoilers
I love horror, I love mystery, I love everything dark and twisted. That being said, I am completely lost with season 2 of Yellowjackets so far. It is just too much. In almost every scene something gets thrown at me ... visions, apparitions, cults, skeepwalking, occult practices, murder mysteries, necrophilic friendships, cannibalism ... and that's just the first two episodes. I am sorry, I just cannot follow. It is too confusing. And it doesn't help that there are about a 100 different storylines happening simultaneously.

I really loved season one, but season 2 ... no idea where this is going. If it is indeed going anywhere.
