A solid installment with some terrific guest appearances

Warning: Spoilers
"CoBro" is one of the stronger episodes this season so far, thanks in large part to Matthew Broderick's hilarious guest appearance. His persnickety, self-deprecating performance led to some truly inspired comedic bits. It was also a wonderful surprise to see the legendary Mel Brooks make a cameo. While I did miss the infectious chemistry between Charles, Oliver and Mabel, it was interesting to see them bounce off other faces we haven't seen in a bit. Additionally, the ending has me very intrigued for where the story will lead in next week's episode. "CoBro" may not be OMITB's peak chapter, but it does feature more than enough laughs and fresh character pairings for me to highly recommend it.

I Missed the Sleuthing

I liked the over all temper of this episode. We had several elements. Charles is pouting and wanting to get back but his pride won't let him. So who steps in to take his place--Matthew Broderick. It's interesting the way the show incorporates cameos of real people and has them play off the regulars. I mean, Meryl Streep isn't Meryl Streep as a character but rather Loretta. Anyway, Broderick was really funny as he tries to overanalyze everything Oliver is doing. I heard tell that Dustin Hoffman does that in anything he appears in and drives directors mad. I guess if you're a great actor, you can pull that off. But the strength of this one is that is some real detective work going on. I also liked the return of Uma, who is a great character. Her encounter with Charles in the diner was wonderful. She is about as salty as she can be. Mabel is showing her chops as she analyzes things. I now look forward to the final three offerings.

Good episode

We are finally back to the building, sleuthing and the podcast. We also have a guest star making appearance. Mabel is back to full investigation and by the end of the episode,Oliver and Charles also realise they want to be part of it. The podcast is back without the two gentlemen. It's nice to see a flashback of Bunny and Uma, Bunny despite her complaints was a very likeable character.

The guest star Mathew Broderick was funny and leads to Charles and Oliver bonding again and a move to join Mabel.

I think the next episodes will be good with the focus on the case. I hope Tina Fey has much more to do than the one scene in one episode. Theo is back, would be nice to have the Alice Banks character also. I think she had more chemistry with Mabel than Tobert.

Warning: Spoilers
In Only Murders In the Building Season 3 Episode 7, the trio tries to mend their relationship, but they aren't entirely back together. Mabel and her new people find a new suspect, who is incriminated by his speech, mannerisms, and history. The episode blends past seasons and current narratives, featuring characters from the past who we've seen little of this season. Uma's unfiltered thoughts and observations are heartwarming, as they share similar values and experiences. Both older women, who have seen enough of life, can't pretend anymore and shoot from the hip. They often clash and fight due to their similarities, but eventually make up. Oliver and Charles' love for each other becomes apparent after the events of Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 6, where their similarities become apparent. Oliver and Charles' relationship differed from Uma and Bonnie's, as they complemented each other. Oliver was happy to lead, while Charles was glad to follow. Oliver realized he needed someone who could take directions, not give them. Matthew Broderick's input was helpful, but Oliver was not satisfied with Matthew's control. Mabel and Theo formed a friendship after a rough start in Season 1. Moving is stressful, and true friends share that stress. Theo, one of the few deaf people on TV, was missing for most of the season. Mabel formed a new trio with Tobert and Theo, which functioned well, and they were all around the same age. Mabel might have learned a thing or two from their interactions. The old trio is still funnily on point, and Mabel and Charles' interactions are always on point. The episode made progress into the murder mystery and looked into the suspect Dickie, who seemed to carry the weight of an entire clan on his shoulders. The episode made sense when Dickie walked in with Ben, hurling stuff and barely breathing. The story revolves around a young man named Dickie who has been under the influence of his older brother, Ben, for his entire life. The story highlights the shift in attention when a younger sibling joins the family and the possibility of Ben robbing him in public. The circumstances surrounding Ben's death are unclear, but it is believed that Dickie had a physical argument with Ben, leading to his death. Dickie expressed admiration for his brother but also hated him, highlighting the complex relationship between them. The episode "CoBro" focuses on mending broken relationships and developing the mystery, which may have led to fewer laughs. The episode also features Oliver and Matthew Broderick's first interaction after Oliver saw Broderick perform, where he shares a sex dream about the moment, which Broderick humorously brushes past.

Mel, Marty, Matthew
wchelsea2521 September 2023
Martin Short showed Matthew Broderick how to play Leo Bloom. The great Gene Wilder, Leo Bloom in Mel Brook's 1968 film, The Producers, was pure magic with the peerless Zero Mostel, as Max Bialeystock. Alas, the Brodway musical production and film starring Matthew Broderick as Leo, and Nathan Lane as Max was pure let-down. Yes, they are Broadway stars, but Broderick could not even get close to Leo's outbursts of churning frustration, and pure disingenuousness the role required. I'll only remark that Lane as the lecherous Max was a stretch. Martin Short was dazzling in his spectacular version of Leo Bloom as he fired Broderick. I have no doubt, the casting of Broderick and Brooks was intentional. Showbiz!

Warning: Spoilers
Finally, a somewhat decent episode of Only Murders in the Building. It felt like a month or so since we have gotten one of those.

But this was a good one. Oliver had some funny moments, Mabel was a lot more focused than usual and finally stood up for herself against the other two, and even Tobert.

And we had no Howard, thankfully. No surprise that an episode without him results in one of the best of the season.

But they presented another red herring with Ben's brother that we will go nowhere, and simply kept things easy to follow. That makes for a much better program for the fans watching at home.

CoBro

The third series of Only Murders in the Building quickly went off the boil. The sleuthing seems to have taken a back seat.

This is a return to form of a sort as the trio have split up over arguments and recriminations.

With Charles out from the musical. Oliver needs to find a replacement but all of them are unsuitable. Cliff one of the producers calls in a favour. It is Matthew Broderick who is keen on the role. Charles is unhappy to lose a role to Broderick again, the previous time it was for Ferris Bueller. Broderick reminds Charles that he was 41 years old at the time.

Oliver learns from Mel Brooks not to listen to any ideas from Broderick.

It is Mabel investigating Ben's murder who figures that his brother Dickie might be a suspect.

This episode was playful and fun. Might be too little a little too late. A sign that there was not enough story here for a 10 part series.

Cobro and the end

Warning: Spoilers
Im kind of mixed feelings with the episode. I didnt really enjoyed it and didnt really hate it. I need to say that im still curious to know who kiiled Ben and we have a new suspect? His brother? Fame? Money? Jealousy? We dont know yet and its for know only theories. We know also that Jackie had the stuff of Ben and we dont have any clue yet. Of course as expected; the dispute between the three main characters was just an excuse and Oliver forgive Charles. So yeah now the turn of Mabel. Its kind of slow and a little bit uninteresting but we still curious and just wonder who did it? And the podcast is back again! Mabel is looking cool of the cover of her podcast. But yeah still light in term of revelations, investigations. But i do appreciate that it have a little bit less comedy and that was good. But i expect more.
