Once again another good decent action/story pack film directed by Hari with his third collaboration with actor Vishal.

When you watch any Hari Tamil languages movies you need to be aware of how much violence will be in his films but he always has very good story that goes with he fight scenes.

Vishal does a good job to carry this film and he acts as Rathnam who is a bad but good guy and finds his way to protect someone.

If your looking for a good action pack fight scenes then watch this film. If your looking for a good, ok story this is your film. If you are a Vishal fan then please watch this film.

I would give this film 7/10 stars or 4,5/5 stars.

Rathnam: A Clichéd Masala Rehash Starring: Vishal, Dimple Hayathi, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu Director: Hari Rathnam, the latest offering from director Hari and actor Vishal, arrives with a loud bang and fizzles out just as quickly. While the film boasts high-octane action sequences and Vishal's energetic performance, it ultimately fails to overcome its clichéd storyline, outdated tropes, and lack of emotional depth.

The Good: Vishal's Performance: Vishal delivers a full-fledged action hero performance, embodying Rathnam's intensity and agility with conviction.

Action Sequences: The film features some well-choreographed and thrilling action sequences, particularly a single-shot sequence involving a complex fight, car crashes, and explosions.

Yogi Babu's Humor: Comedian Yogi Babu provides some much-needed comic relief, though his scenes feel somewhat disconnected from the overall narrative.

Rathnam is a loud and action-packed film that fails to offer anything new or engaging. While Vishal's performance and some action sequences might entertain fans of the genre, the film's overall predictability and lack of emotional depth make it a disappointing experience.

Rathnam is an action-packed masala film which can be watched for its high-octane action sequences. The story, though predictable, has a different concept which makes it interesting. The script and twists are on lines with various South indian action films, but the fast-paced narration makes the film engaging.

Vishal has done a decent job. Priya Bhavani Shankar is the main pillar of the story and has done a decent job as well. Murali Sharma, Hareesh Peraadi and Vettai Muthukumar have done a decent job as antagonists. Samuthirakani and Gautham Vasudev Menon shine in their roles. Yogi Babu's comedy works in parts.

The positive points are the action sequences choreographed by Kannal Kannan, Peter Hein, Vicky and Dilip Subbarayan. The music by Devi Sri Prasad is ok with Uyire En Uyire being the best song, while Bgm is fine. M. Sukumar's cinematography is good in the action sequences (especially single take shot action sequences). T. S. Jay editing is decent. Hari has made the film fast-paced with action and commercial elements.

Overall, Rathnam is a one-time watchable mass film and can be watched with family if they are able to digest gory scenes in the film.

The story offers little novelty, laden with clichéd and silly elements.

The screenplay feels outdated, and the dialogue frequently induces cringes.

The film also suffers from excessive violence and songs that seem shoehorned in without necessity.

The acting follows a dated Tamil template reminiscent of the early 2000s, failing to bring anything fresh to the table.

Direction sticks to the typical 'Hari' style, characterized by rapid-paced editing, which doesn't compensate for the film's other shortcomings.

It's advisable to skip this film altogether.

Not recommended to watch on OTT either.

Hari is one of those filmmakers who thinks that loud noises and endless fight scenes somehow make for an engaging movie. It's the same formula here honestly, with Vishal slashing his way through a nonsensical plot that's ultimately as boring as it is dumb. There's literally nothing that works here - a piss poor story, bad acting, annoying comedy, trash music and even the action just feels clumsy and loud. I also very specifically have to point out just how utterly embarrassing the villains were - whether it be their back stories or even just their characterization - it all reeks of laziness and incompetence. There's very little here to appreciate and even less to enjoy. Skip this, and skip any movie Hari makes in the future.

Film is starting with usual way of story telling of Dir. Hari & Vishal. As expected it runs with same story line of typical vishal movie. Added few twists to show the story is different, but little engaging. Vishal is not improves, Heroine has some weights in her role, played well by PBS. Supporting role by Samuthrakani & the Villains roles are acceptable. No others scored well. All cinema one and only comedian Yogi Babu failed to deliver any notes, but Mottai Rajan collects few points. DSP music seems mixture of his own musics with few melodies from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. One song is in the latter part seems like a song. Stunts are visually engaging but same old stuffs.

Summary : One time watchable, if you are a fan of Hari / Vishal, That also in OTT.

Usual shi_t and fights... nothing new 😑 disappointed.

Second half i slept because the story was not so interesting and some places are too predictable so not so interesting movie wasted my money on day one show hope i see some good movies from vishal like the old detective style thriller and realistic fights these fights are too fake to believe cuz people are flying around like old movies so change the style so people will be there to atleast enjoy the fight sequence overall the movie is one time watch to see vishal performance otherwise waste of money and time and the promotion of the movie was not that good the trailer also gives the same vibe as people are flying in fights.

Not worth to watch on theatre, could have waited for OTT release.

Songs all mokke. Not nice. Doesn't fit to the tempo of the scene.

Vishal needs another type of hair stylist. Always same style for every movie.

Positive: Camera shots, continuous shots were something new and nice to be exactly at the back of the car chase. Vishal as usual led this movie.

Got Abit of twist here and there. But at the end they covered all the plot holes which were opened throughout the movie.
