great filmmaking
Rob-O-Cop28 September 2023
This episode was a large jewel in a jewel encrusted crown. Just a really good idea well executed. I loved how they delivered the complexity of this episode, with the trio sitting in on the events of the murder as fly on the wall watchers. There was real craft to it and it was perfectly pulled off.

They weren't just making another hour of tv content, they were pushing the boundaries of film craft, delivering much more than their homework assignment asked for.

As noted the 3 main actors delivered depth although Mabel/Selena was still the weak link, but the others picked up her slack. Still too much unnecessary swearing, I guess they'll die thinking that's a clever script device, and Paul Rudd gave a great nuanced performance to flesh out his previously only sketched central character.

It's great when you enjoy a show but it's something more when you noticed the well crafted expertise it is delivered with.

Only Murders in the Building remembers that it is about investigating a murder and a podcast associated with that.

It is the penultimate episode so it really does need to gets its skates on.

Oliver wakes up in hospital and has a stent inserted. He is out of hospital and it is a race against time to save Loretta from pursuing further with her false confession. All to save her son Dickie.

Only Dickie is still the prime suspect of killing his adopted brother Ben. Only he has an alibi caught on CCTV cameras. Ben spent time with ladies in a red light area. They turned out to be seamstresses in a clothes repair shop. Ben liked to sew as a form of relaxation.

It was not just that Oliver, Mabel and Charles started to do the investigating. There were some genuinely quirky humour. A bit of a character development for Ben who was not the egoistic monster he was painted out to be.

Potentially the best entry in an already excellent series
superfruitbowl26 September 2023
God, what an incredible episode. I know people have been generally mixed on this season, but I've really enjoyed it so far and these past three entries have been some of the strongest in the entire run. The framing device especially was incredibly interesting and a wonderful visual treat. The chemistry between Steve, Short and Selena has never been better and is made all the more rewarding considering everything they've been through this season.

I've been itching to see more of Paul Rudd this season and this episode delivered, he's so great in this role and does so much to flesh out his character in just 30 minutes. It remains to be seen how this episode will age but at this very moment, this is easily my favorite episode of the series thus far.

Is This the End?
Hitchcoc28 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have enjoyed every minute of this series. Like any continued effort, there were some low points, but one must take the package. Three excellent characters. Short and Martin I expected, but Selena Gomez has filled things in so well as she has been absorbed into their craziness. I was so pleased that Oliver recovered well from his heart attack and was able to get back on the horse. The plot is intricate and full of peaks and valleys, all directed toward finding what happened to that actor. Paul Rudd fills out his role so well. We get to know him as something other than a caustic, insensitive bully. The business with Meryl Streep confessing to the murder and her son an innocent victim of his brother's insensitivity and use of him. The saddest thing of all, if it's true, would be if this is the end of the series. These are big stars and have a lot of commitments. I hope they can put together one more season. No matter what, it has been a gift.

Perfectly Enjoyable Execution of Investigating
jmrtjtj28 September 2023
This episode highlights the amazing chemistry between our three main cast in an effortless fashion that gives its audience each of these characters wittiness and smarts to catch the killer. I enjoyed seeing more Paul Rudd as well, as he steals the show whenever he is on screen. But what I find most enjoyable about the episode is how it flows. Each scene is needed, and might I add very funny, and it doesn't seem like they're wasting any time in the final few episodes of the season. It'll be a very interesting season finale and cant wait to see how it all ends and if there is going to be another season as this show just keeps getting better and better!

Howard has pieced together my heart
JBP_Ace21 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Howard is now one of my favorite characters on the show, which includes the main three of course. I'm so glad he's getting more scenes because he steals them. The scene he's losing his vision, then spots the paper... "LLLLook what you've turned me into!... ow" He was one of the reasons with episode was so great.

But the icing on the cake (this episode's candle in the dip) is Paul Rudd eating the cookie. THAT is now the most hilariously uncomfortable thing I've ever seen. I had to rewind it a handful of times, I was dying. The sound he makes just before destroying the poor thing had me on the floor. Man... the things he did to that cookie... I'll tell ya I took a cold shower before a long night of staring at the ceiling clutching my blanket to my chin... shivering.

Warning: Spoilers
The show Murders In the Building Season 3 Episode 9 showcases the beauty of uncertainty in solving murder cases. The lead suspect, Donna, is unexpected and unexpected. The trio reunites to recreate the last thirty minutes before Ben's death, revealing the lead suspect after several dead ends. Despite not working together for most of the season, they maintain their regular beat and dove into Ben's case together. Mabel's dream mocks her life as a child, but it is a nice life that fulfills societal needs. Life acts like water, flown towards a basin and taking the canal's path. It is the best person can do is find the good in the direction life has taken and build from there, giving them a little bit of control. In Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 2, Mabel struggles with accepting her life as she approaches thirty, without a home and two older men for friends. Her dream of marrying and raising two kids while driving a Honda Civic was nice, but it wasn't destiny. Running to the courthouse wearing a wedding gown with her best friends made her realize they were everything. The penultimate episode of Season 3 follows the trio as they focus on the actual killer. The road to finding Donna was a rough one full of ups and downs, but the revelation was poetic. It was surprising how much we didn't see Donna's anxiety over the direction of the production and what was at stake if it failed. In the episode "The Killer," Mabel, Oliver, and Charles work to recreate the timeline thirty minutes before Ben's death, while Howard struggles with losing his sight. The trio eliminates all incriminating evidence against Loretta, leading to the automatic clearance of Dickie as a suspect. The episode dives deeper into Ben's character, showing him as a well-rounded person rather than the annoying pig he was expected to be. Paul Rudd delivers a standout performance, balancing Ben's erratic nature with the loneliness of a lonely person struggling to beat his weakness. The focus on the scene is impressive, especially with three other people staring at the actor. The episode's highlight is the unveiling of the killer. Donna's story of a mother who missed her child's growth and now has the opportunity to protect him is a captivating one. Loretta and Dickie's tale kept us occupied, but we missed another story of the same nature unfolding. Death Razzle was Cliff's first production, and Donna tagged along to ensure nothing wrong happened to her son's career. Oliver Putnam's roast from Charles is always a good one, with Oliver roasting Charles confidently before Charles realizes it. Ben in the dressing room is also involved in self-deprecation. Episode 9 of Only Murders in the Building is a comeback episode that has been eagerly awaited by fans. The episode focuses on the protagonist trio's love lives, which have become a distraction. The show's soul, Charles, Mabel, and Oliver, is restored in abundance, with an edited and executed episode that exudes a heightened state where Season 3 is at its peak. Paul Rudd's heartbreaking cameo is a character reversal, and the show's final shape is almost reached. While the writers may have one final trick up their sleeves, Episode 9 is indubitably the best episode of this season and one of the best episodes overall, redeeming the sluggishness of the previous few episodes.

Episode 309

Warning: Spoilers
The gang being united and going to do some actual investigating was a refreshing change of pace. This is what the series was built on and prior to this point we had gotten a surprising lack of any of it.

I was kind of mixed on the visuals of them being in the room in spirit while they talked and we saw a glimpse of what happened that night. I don't know if I want to see it broken down this way again.

I guess with the reveal of Donna being the killer we know she won't actually be revealed that way and there will be some sort of twist in the finale, but at this point I don't really care enough.

Ben and the biscuit
AvionPrince1629 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have more and more hard time to finish the episode. I need to say its more and more non sense: the way they discover the truth by showing us the truth with Mabel and his friends during the revelation of what really happened. The comedy is way too much and we finally discover that Donna seem to be the murder of Ben. Some scenes was completely hard to believe ( the scene of Ben and the biscuit). The case become less and less interesting and im not a huge fan of how they reveal the events and what really happened to our characters. Also how they discover that Ben talk to the biscuit because of Oliver doing the same thing make me think that the writers get lazy or what?? So yeah pretty disappointed overalll. Lets finish this and get into season 4 please!
