Brutal, but derivative thriller
alain-kapel521 December 2023
Bloody Korean serial killer thriller that's both a callback to older Korean films in the genre and an interesting spin on the body swapping concept.

So here we have something of a Korean version of Face/Off, but with less action and more gory killings. The characters are archetypes well known in this subgenre, such as the determined protagonist cop and a young, snickering serial killer who can't help but laugh as he commits murder. They don't grow or deepen throughout the film, instead you get swept up in the film's fierce pacing and forceful plotting while character development is sacrificed.

The film remains fun enough until the end, even if it constantly reminds you how it could have been even better. Even the gorier scenes feel tired and overplayed. The body swapping conceit is deployed in an implausible, but compelling way, even if it wasn't quite used to its full potential. But it remains the film's main virtue and isn't just a cheap gimmick overall.

Take a look at this film if you enjoy brutal Korean thrillers, but don't expect miracles.

When FACE/OFF meets FREAKY FRIDAY...
PANDIAN12062114 December 2023
Inspired by John woo " Face off" this psychologoically twisted consumes the concept to the fullest in reinventing in a challenging way...

Kim jae Hoon plot is predictable while the treatment given is unique & 2nd half shifts the gear wisely in terms impressive body swapping tricky concept...

Jang dong yoon gives an impressive performance is wilder enough & equally agressive, while his timely transformation sends a strong message that he can handle matured & sensitive role at ease...

While Dae hwan hoo Keeps underplayed to justify the titular role...

Overall a worthy BLOODY action thriller that promises you to entertain...

i like crime...

Warning: Spoilers
Movies of the hardcore sort made by south korean filmakers, and i kinda liked this one to, except its a bit clumsy in the editing and the choice of filmatographic solutions and float.

Its meant to be a dark kind of ''face off'' like action horror movie with a lot of blood and gore that gen Z of south korea loves, but the congenital inherited cultural rites of south koreans may block the western way of making real mind-independent , believeable and mind boggeling products. And thats happening here.

Also the lack of insight and backstory to why the killers became killers, couldve brought so much more to this production. So with a western glimpse i see alot of goofyness at the same time as i see excellence, so all over its a small recommend from the grumpy old man if you like hemathemetical issues on the big screen.
