Not as good as I had expected...

The concept idea behind "Tibetan Raiders" seemed interesting, and I will say that the synopsis for the movie definitely helped to convince me to sit down and watch the movie. Well, that and the fact that it was an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, nor actually heard about.

Sure, I had never heard about the movie prior to watching it here 2023, but I had some expectations to the movie after having read the synopsis and been won over by what the movie apparently had to offer.

However, writers Wang Hao, Benny Wen, Sun Xiaoxian and Jianqiao Zhao put together a script and storyline that proved to be somewhat anti-climatic. The narrative was rather slow paced and there was simply too little exciting things happening throughout the course of the 90 minutes that the movie ran for. There was simply too long a gap in between the thrills and exciting scenes. And that made for a rather mundane and somewhat dull viewing experience.

The acting performances in "Tibetan Raiders" were good. I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, but they had cast some nicely talented actors and actresses. Just a shame that they didn't have a more thrilling script to bring to the screen.

As for the character gallery in the movie, well it was varied enough, but also somewhat shallow. You don't really get to delve into the layers of the characters, and thus is feels somewhat irrelevant as to what their motivations might be or as to what happens to them.

Visually then "Tibetan Raiders" is nice. There are lots of really nice scenic shots of the Tibetan wilderness, adding a sense of adventure and beauty to the movie.

Right, well I have never experienced a swarm of beetles that were screeching, like the one I saw in this movie. Sure, I get the aspect of sound for the purpose of entertaining the audience, but sometimes it is better to go for a more realistic approach. And sometimes a silent threat is a more menacing threat.

My rating of directors Li Xi Jie and Zhang Zhu Lin's 2022 movie lands on a five out of ten stars.
