This short animation served as a pilot for the Magic Knight Rayearth anime made by TMS Entertainment.
Basically, it is a quick recap of the events from the very beginning of the story narrated by one of the protagonists, with practically all of its scenes being used again for the first episode of the series with almost no difference.
I personally think TMS did a pretty good job adapting Rayearth, expanding the plot in a convincing way. In the original comic by CLAMP, events happen a bit too fast and we hardly meet any people from Cephiro, while the anime does show several civilians interacting with the three Magic Knights, being also more intense and emotional on its most dramatic moments.
The second season was a more radical departure from the manga than the first one, but was good too. I liked the addition of the villains Nova and Debonair, and the darker plot.
If Rayearth ever gets another anime adaptation, hope it takes cues from the most positive aspects from the 90s series, which I still fondly remember to this very day.
