The storyline is compelling if not a bit predictable. But the acting, sound, and cinematography are so bad they are down right distracting. It's like watching your kids act out a play. The actors speak as though they are reading a teleprompter. The look and sound of the film isn't much better. Also the leading actress is completely unbelievable as young boy. She looks, acts, and speaks like a girl and there's no believing she's anything but. Simply cutting her hair and making her wear baggy clothes is far from the perfect disguise. She makes no attempt to deepen her voice, and her always dirt-free baby face simply looks feminine.
All in all, it makes for a below average movie.
