OK, so this is about the German band Scorpions. They have been around for fifty amazing years. This documentary is in German, however there are English subs.

You see a lot about the 'farewell' tour and a bit of history. Glaring omissions which stopped me giving 10 include no interviews with either Uli or Francics, both of whom were vital to the band. It would have also been nice to have others input, for example Rudy. I saw the Blu-Ray and the sound is great and modern pictures look superb.

A previous review talks about the Scorpions loving themselves. Well if I had there talent I probably would too!

Shockingly DULL

For a band with such a long history, how on earth do you make a documentary about this band band that is SO DULL???

Well, for starters - it really isn't a documentary of the history of the band - it is 90% a documentary of their farewell tour. Boring interview after boring interview. I bought the Blu-ray - I will be donating it to the library.

The title could also be: The Most Boring Rock Band of All Times

If I am supposed to learn one thing from Forever and a Day, then it must be that everybody loves the Scorpions and above all the Scorpions love themselves the most.

In this documentary all the band's milestones are predictably shown one after another. It is like the set list of a band on which concert you already know what hits they are going to play. That results in a complete lack of tension and revelations about the band. There is no criticism or investigative documentation. And when there is the slightest hint of a mistake or flaw it is immediately annulled by a superlative. This apparently mostly satisfies the Scorpions and their friends who glorify themselves in over a 100 Minutes of interviews and footage of the bands best moments. And that is as dull as it sounds.

I believe, Forever and a Day is only enjoyable if you are a non-critical hardcore fan or a member of this band.
