The most poignant character in LIGATURES, which bolds it out as noticeable from all the other short films running riot all over the internet as the year draws to a close, is the light. Not the two mysterious ladies, who find themselves entangled in each other's lives, cruising through the countryside and watching the day fade. It is the light – the colour – that paints the story boldly and memorably.

LIGATURES boils down to a scenic car journey with a twist. Two girls – one a hitch-hiking wanderer with some ashes to scatter under her arm, the other a mysterious taxi driver – find themselves in a contemplative journey together which ends a little differently than expected. The film is a taster for Chambers' upcoming feature which expands on the theme of human motivation, action and consequence. If the mood is painted as invitingly as it is here, then we can only anticipate good things from the young Londoner.
