If you've watched all of anthony bourdain's shows, including those productions where he only narrated, his politics were pretty clear. Stand up for the historically disenfranchised, downtrodden, underdog, leftist bit of anarchy. He dines with the rich, famous and/or powerful but it's always as a spectator and not without some curmudgeonly questioning, like "how can you do this with this going on" attitude. "yeah, but" seemed to be in everything. So, production wise this show is far from balanced and if you listen close, there are things said which are considerably anti-social so shame on the producrers and bourdain for sharing what can't be shared today. For example, he asks this woman, why she feels the culture in that part of miami is unfriendly and her answer is because a lot of people in miami are there temporarily. They come to the US to make money to build the house of their dreams back in their home country and she says she'd probably do the same thing. Where is the "yeah, but"? It's true, and most people know that's part of the immigration story in the US but no one will admit to it. No one will say it and then you see this unscripted honesty and there's no "yeah, but". In another interview, he's talking about jobs in little venezuela and another woman says you can't get a job there unless you speak spanish, especially in the service industry. Nobody speaks english in this area. Where is the "yeah, but"? In another interview, this guy, supposedly a obscure music legends talks about how he supported himself. He claimed to work as a school teacher, but he didn't teach. He said, he would go in thru the front door, and out the backdoor. But then a moment or two later he says, as if caught in moral mud, the principal knew about it, so that's ok. Where is the "yeah, but"? Don't complain about the schools when you're holding up someone like him as a model leader. Don't celebrate his life when he short changes his community just because he spearheaded an obscure music genre. Where's that dialog in the show? It's this part of a great show and raconteur that I don't subscribe too unless it's in a different country and culture I could care less about.
