I'm not sure this really was 'the perfect blend' if I'm honest.
This was an uneasy mix of many tones, almost like it had been written by lots of different people and sandwiched together.
So we get the touching ongoing storyline with Harold, which is fine.
However we also then get a 'comedy' plot with Paul and Reece that seems to involve Holly hiding underneath things. We even have the 'comedy' poking heads out from behind walls moment. Not great.
The Mike and Jane storyline isn't overly well written either, and rather wastes the opportunity that having Guy Pearce involved (however briefly) offers.
