A sad but common tale of a talented musician.
salsandate17 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The movie is a chronicle of her drug and alcohol abuse. It provides insights for the viewer into her reliance on them as a coping mechanism when faced with the challenging issues of love and loss all along her rise in the music industry. Those that followed her career will find little surprises here, but the portrayal also celebrates her force in the industry from the very beginning as one who stays true to who she is and what she's about. Her art told the stories of her life in a way we haven't heard. Watching this allows for the viewer to visualize and comprehend the arch of chemical dependency and her unfortunate ultimate demise.

Great movie

Wasn't really familiar with all the details of the rise and fall of Amy and this movie is a well written and produced depiction. Loved that there was a lot of her music played throughout. Was a bit slow at points where there was no need i.e sitting in a room alone. It was sad to see what a grip Blake had on her, and it was really a shame to see someone with such talent and an incredible voice fall ever further down the wrong path. The movie didn't hold back showing the tough scenes but also didn't leave out the good parts like winning awards or performing. I would recommend this movie to anyone interested in Amy Winehouse.
