If the loose ends in the story of A Housekeeper's Revenge were as carefully plotted as Fay Masterson's plot against Kathryn Newton this might have rated
higher. Honestly I couldn't see what Masterson's problem was.
Newton's dad has married himself a young trophy wife and he's honeymooning with her. Leaving the daughter in the care of housekeeper Masterson, Masterson is nursing a big time grudge against Newton. She blames Newton for the suicide of her son who was a picked on nerd in school. In fact she was one of the few who treated him decently.
It's here where the story is vague, too vague for my taste. That Masterson is deranged no doubt, but just if and how much culpability Newton has is not clear at all.
Some good performances topped Masterson, Newton, and Kenton Duty as her ex-boyfriend are sadly wasted in a mediocre film.
