Warning: Spoilers
In Scorpion' season three, two hour long season premiere the team needs to stop Bulgarian hackers after they hacked into the American defence system and threaten the lives of everyone in America. The unoriginal plot line and disappointing character relationships questioned how much I would enjoy the show, but after the first hour I was hooked and once the show was over, I craved for more. One of the producers is Walter O'Brian, the man the show is biased off of. Which is interesting that an actual genius gets a say in how the show about geniuses is created. The majority of the other producers and writers have never had extremely successful TV shows, and you can tell because the more and more episodes we see the more repetition there is in the show. For example Toby said the exact line in season 2 episode 7 as he did in last nights season premiere, ¨Stud finder? I can't go near those. They always go off.¨ Not only have lines been repeated but the entire plot line of the show is almost the exact same each week. Because of this, I was afraid that one of my very favorite shows would no longer be interesting to me. I was wrong, after the second hour the plot shifted into an exciting adventurous show that took me by complete surprise. The characters started working together as a team and as friends despite the issues that left us hanging at the end of season 2. Although the show was repetitive, it is very easy to overlook that and enjoy the show for how it is, a bunch of misfit geniuses (and a waitress) solving cases that nobody else could.

AWKWARD
DebbyNessie19 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is very awkward, that had to be the most awkward flight ever - I hope they managed to get their cars back eventually. Walter manages to nearly say it, but a missile stops him - typical! Toby pours his heart out - but the jet drowns him out, typical. Maybe Tim hearing what was said at the end is a good thing, we'll have to wait and see.

Just a joke
mirelapancheva6 October 2016
Totally agree with the previous review! Both episodes are complete joke. Moreover they are totally offensive to Bulgaria and all Bulgarians! Cannot believe how much money people invest in this production and still facts are so off! You should be ashamed!!! At least find people who can speak Bulgarian or perform better. It is the 21. century. Drinking rakia from the bottle in the casino has nothing to do with the reality. Don't even get me started on the older woman who can speak English but the young hackers cannot - it is just absurd. There was one thing accurate: the car plates. It is just sad. And I really liked the series...till now.

Inaccurate
yoannaangelova5 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The first two episodes of the third season were incredibly offensive to Bulgaria, to the Bulgarian people, to the Bulgarian traditions, to the Bulgarian progress, to the Bulgarian nature and therefore to the TV series in general. The only thing that came closely to the truth were the nodding part - and even that has as much exceptions as it has confirmations. The part with the old car was simply not true - if anybody comes to Bulgaria, they will see normal cars, as in other countries. The fact is that even when Bulgarians see Trabant, we are hardly believing it and we're wondering how that car is still moving. The people who were presented in the episodes as "Bulgarians" didn't look anything like the Bulgarian people you would meet everyday on Bulgarian streets. The part with the casino was absurd: the Bulgarian casinos are as modern as any other country's. The idea that Bulgarian hackers are capable enough to sabotage the whole American army system, but they do not speak English, is simply stupid on one hand and unrealistic, on another - in fact, it is much more likely to see a Bulgarian person between the age of 15 and 30 years, who speaks better English than most Americans /when it comes to grammar/. And the few sentences, spoken in supposedly Bulgarian language sounded much less realistic in Bulgarian than the English sentences, spoken by the supposed Bulgarians - you could have at least gotten some Bulgarian actors to say them /I am a Bulgarian and I needed the subtitles in order to understand what the supposed Bulgarians were saying!!!/. So, all things considered - every Bulgarian, who was watching these two episodes should have one in mind when it comes to how accurate the TV Series Scorpion present the facts.

Shame on you Nick Santora!
konstantinov-themall2 August 2018
Dear Mr. Santora, I would recommend next time when you're writing the scenarios to use at least Google Maps and drop the little guy on the streets of the towns you're describing. Because honestly the two first episodes of season 3 are just crap! Please contact Mr. Schwarzenegger, or Mr. Stalone, or one of the many other stars that have made films in Bulgaria and ask them some details about Bulgaria. We might be the poorest country in the EU, but what you have showed to the viewers was simply a shame for you as a scenarist of the show!

CBS are you for real?!
NicoxDJ27 March 2017
I'll try to be short... 1. I love your production, but this time you totally disappointed me... 2. This time your script writers became idiots! The reasons are already mentioned in the previous comments/reviews + WTF music is this?!?!? Use Google, use YouTube... i'm sorry but you're IDIOTS! 3. Sofia != Baghdad !!!! 4. CBS, it was going to be cheaper for you, to buy tickets to Bulgaria, and cooperate with "Nu Boyana Film Studios", and film the scenes in real Bulgarian streets. That means no cars from the '70, no Iraq style buildings, real Bulgarian and professional actors, who can play the role, and speak REAL Bulgarian language. You don't know about "Nu Boyana"? OK, just google it this time at least... you will be amazed from the show-reel... Why you didn't make at least like Blindspot?!? They didn't film in Bulgaria, but at least show real bird view scenes! You have to make an excuse for your Bulgarian fans... even when one of our national TV buy your 1st and 2nd season... I'm not sure, they are going to buy the 3rd one and show what you think about Bulgaria...

Awkward misrepresentation of Bulgaria as a country and its culture
mattmikolaj1 September 2018
Producers of the shows should check at least a few google images of what SOFIA actually looks like before trying to make an episode. The capital definitely does not look like a city from some third world country. Please, do some research before trying to portray a foreign country and its culture. This particular portrayal has been just dry, embarrassing and misleading.

Awful representation of Bulgaria!!
izi_19922 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The first time they mentioned Bulgaria in the episode I was like "Okey, cool, this would be interesting" ... I was so wrong about this. First of all in the episode there are hackers that can overcome military systems, but they do not speak, nor even understand English? Are you kidding me? Not to say that for the coding you have to at least understand a bit of the English language, or you really think that Bulgarians are illiterates? Nevermind, another thing that bugs me of, is that they land in the middle of nowhere, on a field, and than there's a car from "The Stone Age" waiting for them by which they have to "fit in"?! Again are you kidding me? A car that was being driven before I was even born ( I'm 20 years old by the way) and even now when somebody sees it on the streets begins to wonder how people can still drive this things - so rarely seen they are. And not to say that every car in this "Bulgaria" was like from the 70s... Another thing - you really think that Sofia looks like and is as big as a town from Sudan or Iraq? You should have done your job better - these days you have "Uncle Google" by whom you can have a little bit of perspective about how my country actually looks like, because yes - I'm from Bulgaria, and this representation of it is really offending! Not only that we do not have casinos that look like pit-holes, but our cinemas are big, actually we have one of the biggest Imax cinemas in the hole "Balkans". And the Bulgarian language that was in the movie - even I needed to stop the scenes and replay them like 10 times until I understand what they are saying. Don't get me started on the Russian names that were being used for the so called "Bulgarians" or the music that is supposed to be Bulgarian and is being played in the car scene with "The Skunk"! This was one of my favorite TV shows but now I'm seriously reconsidering if I should continue to watch it when it represents so off the reality a country and its traditions (like drinking "rakia" from the bottle and the over-exaggerating of the nodding for "yes" and "no") because this makes me to think what else is being exaggerated in the series. In the end I would like to say that this episode made me more annoyed than entertained, and I'm not the only one that shares this way of thinking. So next time do your homework and make your research!

Very disappointed!
deejayrumbata9 October 2016
I wonder how I didn't voted with 1 (awful). The story in these 2 episodes is pretty good and interesting, however the Bulgarian representing was just ridiculous! Is this how the people actually believe Bulgaria looks like? I had a Big smile and joy when they mentioned "Bulgaria" in such a popular and probably most viewed TV show. Even the "Bulgarian" actors(with of-course American accent) were struggling pronouncing the words. This is really offensive to Bulgarians. Try to google Sofia, Bulgaria and see how beautiful and modern it is, with all its nature and amazing views, not the wrecked buildings and old(80's) cars you showed to us. Such a waste of money to hire those expensive cars and put in the middle of who knows where, instead of actually filming there(it'll probably cost you less anyway). I really like the "Scorpion", but from what I saw , makes me really upset. I've never been disappointed from any other episode, until now!

Disappointing
sp-tepavski-881-28466030 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I am a Bulgarian and I feel totally offended by this poor and misleading presentation of the "Bulgarian" reality in this episode - the cars, the dirty streets, the dungeons...even the names weren't Bulgarian but definitely Russians, let alone the ridiculous attempts of the actors who tried to speak Bulgarian (thanks for the English subtitles - they were really helpful in order to understand what it was meant to be said). I expected more from one of my favourite TV series! On the other hand the plot is interesting...Still, absolutely unreal - the fluently speaking granny and the teen who doesn't know a word (but capable to hack the US military) are so rare to find that if you meet one, you should immediately take a photo. PS. FYI Bulgaria is in top 5 countries regarding internet connection speed in the world...so the thing with the cinema is only making me laugh even harder!

That was a joke, right?!
gevreku26 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I do not wish to repeat previous reviews, but for the record - I stay behind all of them. The representation of Bulgaria was a complete joke! Let's use Walter's motto and just state some facts: 1) Even six year old children in Bulgaria know enough English to understand the conversation that Scorpion members were having over their coms. Nevertheless, the whole episode is built over the premise that a bunch of very smart Bulgarian hackers do not speak English, which is not only preposterous, but nearly impossible. (Even the strange looking security guy with the Russian accent knew English :D) 2) Bulgarians neither look like this "casino" characters, neither talk like them ... The "gorilla" looks more like a giant who crawled out from Lord of the Rings, the main character with the mustache is also far from the regular Bulgarian guy. Their accent - again, a joke - a person who speaks Bulgarian could not possibly have such an accent, because of our phonetics. And when the so called "Bulgarian" characters actually try to SPEAK BULGARIAN, I can guarantee you that every Bulgarian who is watching the show has to read the English subtitles in order to understand what they are trying to say. 3) Now, let's move to the "Oriental" architecture and the whole "Secret casino" thing. Bulgaria DOES NOT look like some place in the Middle East.
  • Cherkovna street is situated near the ideal center of the capital (Sofia). Because of the street lamps it is very bright during the night, there are a lot of people walking around and the buildings there do not look like the forgotten tomb represented in this episode.
  • Bulgarian casinos are originally visited by a lot of high rollers and their interior appearance is very "well groomed". The writers should have made some research before representing the city as a junkyard. Also, in Bulgaria we mainly play Texas Hold'em, Roulette and Blackjack, not Baccarat (and we have some excellent poker players).
  • Seriously, what's with the burning BARRELS?! I have seen movies where scenes from USA ghetto neighborhoods are represented in such a manner, but in Bulgaria there is no such thing. Or it was just a metaphor which was supposedly implying that our whole country is like a one big ghetto?!
  • This leads me to the kind grandma with the ficus.. whaaaat ?!
Now, I can elaborate on all of this but i prefer to go straightly to number 4: 4) Finally, but maybe the most important remark that I would like to make regarding Toby's character in general (not only in this particular episode):
  • No behavioral scientist in his right mind would ever build a theory over terms like "unconscious"; "subconscious" etc. Behaviorism is incompatible with Freud's bull crap and even we (Bulgarians from the third world) know this. As a matter of fact, behaviorism emerges as an argument against all psychological theories, which use as central notions some unobservable entities like "subconscious"; "thoughts" etc. Maybe the writers of the show could have done some research regarding famous behavioral psychologists and behavioral scientists instead of using the name "Freud" on every occasion.

Totally wrong representation of Bulgaria
viola_uk16 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm from Bulgaria (more specifically from Sofia) and I can assure you that it has nothing to do with the representation of this stupid episode. I probably won't say anything different from the other bulgarians that reviewed this, so I'll be brief. First of all, almost no one in Sofia drives trabants anymore. I don't know what the screen writers were thinking. Second, Sofia is a modern city. Probably as modern as, for example, New York (except the fact that we have a better subway). Just google Sofia and you'll see I'm right. And about the actors that played the bulgarians? Oh my God. As one of the reviewers, I also needed those subtitles to realize what they were saying when they were speaking "bulgarian". A little advice to the screen writers: Next time you represent another country, hire natives for the roles. I just can't believe this episode is rated 7.7.

Such a shame
jorjina0028 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Everything said in the previous reviews was enough, but I feel the need to add how offended I feel. I am very disappointed, since this is one of my favorite TV series and all you did was make fun of my country. It's 21 century, for God's sake... These 2 episodes were so inaccurate and all over the place. Bulgaria may be a small country compared to the USA but it's very advanced in technology usage and most of us speak English, Bulgarian AND another /third/ language. And the scene with the old lady in the woods? What the heck was going on there... I am speechless. So sad...

C'mon... Really?!? This is Bulgaria?????
viiktoriia_petrova3 April 2020
This is what you think Bulgaria looks like??? It is very offensive! Please next time you make an episode about another country just read something about it and maybe see some pictures in Google! It is that easy to see Sofia is not some tomb like you presented it in this episode! The other comments describe very good the misleading information so I won't repeat it again but I'm really speechless.... Shame of you!

Stupid
yonkapg16 November 2017
Totally agree with previous reviews. I can only say - hollow idea and poor performance. Russian names for Bulgarians - stupid, even offensive. Two hour flight from US to Bulgaria - total science fiction or even fantasy. Trabant car?!!! You should have used Volga instead. Come on, people, you can do better than that. Hackers that don't speak English?!!! Is that even possible?! Your fact-checkers totally suck. You should not pay them a dime! Amazing how in a modern world today someone still can "make some facts" for real places without at least checking Google, and still claim to have the forth highest IQ in the world. Stupid is the only word I can come up with. I really like the show but I could't stand to watch the entire episode.

To the idiotic team of the most stupid show ever made by people with no brain.

Sofia is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and you put some sorts of 3rd world collage. Shame on you.
